Well tonight I went back to the farm I hunted this week, where I dug the 1895-S barber dime. I went across the exact same areas, Only I turned 90 degrees. I cannot BELIEVE how many coins I dug today!!!! It was better than the first day! Many were one way hits!!!! It pays to detect yards at different angles.

First target was an indian, then a few feet away I get an odd type signal medium tone, nice and smooth, 6" deep and it read 07-31, hmmm what could this be? I dug my plug and the first thing I see is a wheat, I say to myself, no way a wheat could read at 07-31, so I run my coil over the hole and I now get a nice low tone, 12-17. there was a silver war nickel under the wheat! That was silver 199. :laughing7:

I stand up walk literally 2 feet and get a sweet 12-45, I am praying please be silver! Well lo and behold it was #200 and it was a 1946 rosie. And I am NOT complaining one single bit. I cannot believe I hit the 200 mark in one season. :hello2:
The etrac is truly a silver machine!!!!

The rest of the yard gave up 3 more injuns, another full date buffalo, several wheats, a small flat button with a train on it. The oddest thing is the one wheat I dug, what do you think happened to it? How did someone do that? :dontknow:

Anyhow I am on cloud nine, an awesome hunt...It is just hard to believe that many more coins came out of this farm yard! Thanks to everyone for looking! And happy hunting to all!

WTG! That wheat looks like someone put a dime on it and hammered it. Nice finds. HH
it is way too perfect for that, there is no impressions on lincolns face and the edge that is curled up is exact all around, nice and smooth

That's an outstanding number!! That concave penny is puzzling :icon_scratch:

That penny might be the first step in an attempt to make a coin ring? (for example: http://hackedgadgets.com/2006/07/29/coin-ring/)

Congrats on your milestone - that's a lot of hard work!

nope too perfect for that, the outside is smooth, no hammer or spoon marks. I posted it in the coin section, and a couple guys think it is a capped die error

That's an incredible pile of old coins!

If it's a capped dye error, doesn't that make it a "pretty (valuable) penny?"

Great bunch of coins there, congrats!

Now that's awesome. I was thrilled when I hit 200 clad quarters for the summer...how do you do it? Goes4ever, you're the man! Keep it up, the way you're going you'll hit 250 soon! Here's to ya, again :coffee2:

I agree with Baywalker, it looks like a mason's penny I had. It was put in a press and looks just like yours, but with a mason compass pressed into the middle of it too.
