First off only one of the spanish was found by me.

With new ideas not panning out Navy Dave and I went back to a spot we were to recently that had a lot of old pottery shards lying around.

He gets a copper, I get a copper, then he calls me over, and drops this coin in my hand. It was quite an awesome sight, something I had never found, and wanted badly. A spanish 2 reales, and in very nice shape.

I though well that's it might as well go home now, but wait a minute, or in this case about 15 minutes, I get a high tone about 88 on the omega in the valley between two rows. I dig down and retrieve a clump with a silver edge. No way I thought...could it be another ? So I called ND over for the reveal, and turned on the camera. The video is only 42 seconds and worth a look. Sure enough 2 spanish 2 reales in not more than 15 minutes. 5 years I waited for my first Spanish Silver, and it was quite the rush, I think you can tell from the video.

We got some other oldies you can see in the pics. we each got a small bell, mine is broke, I got what I think is a glass button ? ND got what 5 coppers. He siad it was his best coin day ever. His 1719 is a beauty.

5 years beats my 25 years & counting:notworthy:

Those are the type of days you will never forget! That 1719 Pistareen is right off the coin dealers table! Figuratively speaking of course.

With that early navy and now the Spanish, I think you have a trade axe or cannon ball coming!

Yeah ! not likely to forget. I know what you mean.

Trouble is, his is too good! ...makes mine look bad, whish it isn't !

thanks for posting that video. Was awesome to re-live your moment. congrats to the both of you!

Thank You, I watched it (re-lived) it a few times. if you stop it here and there you can see how deep the hole was, and a good shot of the silver edge in the clump.

Epic reveal! Congrats to both of you, sounds like a very memorable day! :icon_thumright:

Thanks Frisco, not always you can "catch" the moment, sometimes too cold, too much junk, or it is already popped out ?

Very Memorable !

What a great hunt!! The two Spanish silvers are awsome! I was a little surprised to not hear any excited cussin' in the vid:censored: Congrats on a pair of better grade silvers:icon_thumright:

Believe me I'm not above cussin', but had some thumbs down on my Utube page ??? (smiley)

He dug his first, so you have to be thankful you got one at all. That happened to Ironhorse and myself one time. We stumbled on to a slope in a new field and he dug a nice early NS Regiment button. I had never seen it before, but of course wanted one.... so I dug like crazy hoping there would be another, which there never is, but this time there was! His was a bit better, but mine was decent to, and I was just happy to find it.

Well done Rick, you certainly deserved that find. You have been hitting it hard and it's paying off :icon_thumright:

Beautiful coins, brother. If anyone deserves them it's you guys! What a fantastic way to cap off the season!!!

Thanks Gio, but "cap off a season" Weatherman say, two weeks ground not freeze. No fly, No tick, good to dig !

Oh I am, and can't hardly believe it. OP "that's it might as well go home now"

WOW! Not often that a pristine Pistareen 2Reales comes up that hasn't been cut, much less TWO! That is a FANTASTIC day!!!

Cheers,

Buck

Thanks B.B.. Many thanks.

I like your finds Rick, you should have some great finds from that site in the future!

Thanks Mr. Horse, but as far as the future goes at this spot I think two guys, and two hunts the finds are going to be pretty sparse,. As you know the good "sweet spot is pretty small on these old house sites. This was a good one though 13 coins total, and there wasn't much iron junk either, there was a few lead blobs, and the odd pop can, but pretty clean.

I think I'd rather spend my time on another NEW site. I have lots of ideas.
