Some of my other posts were moved because they weren’t found today and I was just posting some highlights but these were actually found very recently. My best weekend of metal detecting ever. So I was detecting an old farm field and about 30 minutes in I dug my first coin of the day, a Mercury dime. About 50 yards away I swung over another silver coin, this time a 1781 Spanish half reale. Now any day with a couple silvers is a good day in my book especially when one is Spanish, but I had no idea what was in store for the rest of the day. About an hour passed since the half reale with no good signals when all of a sudden I dug a flat button, then another right next to it, which I thought was weird. Well my next signal maybe 2 feet away was a Draped bust LC, and that’s when the real fun began. I ended up pulling 14 copper coins and a handful of buttons and musket balls within a 50 foot radius that day, and my only explanation is that there was a small farm stand there for a few years. Needless to say I returned the next day and was able to save another 7 copper coins within the same area all of them being early American. I was able to save 21 early American copper coins total and 18 of them were of the draped bust variety and 5 of those were half cents! Here’s the whole run down with dates:
-1781 Spanish half reale
-1795 Liberty Cap
-1798 Draped Bust (3 total)
-1800 Draped Bust
-1801 Draped Bust (3 total)
-1802 Draped Bust
-1803 Draped Bust (3 total)
-1806 Draped Bust
-1807 Draped Bust
-1808 Classic Head (2 total)

-1804 Draped Bust Half Cent
-1805 Draped Bust Half Cent
-1806 Draped Bust Half Cent
-1807 Draped Bust Half Cent(2 total)
-1917 Mercury dime
