Some of my other posts were moved because they werenā€™t found today and I was just posting some highlights but these were actually found very recently. My best weekend of metal detecting ever. So I was detecting an old farm field and about 30 minutes in I dug my first coin of the day, a Mercury dime. About 50 yards away I swung over another silver coin, this time a 1781 Spanish half reale. Now any day with a couple silvers is a good day in my book especially when one is Spanish, but I had no idea what was in store for the rest of the day. About an hour passed since the half reale with no good signals when all of a sudden I dug a flat button, then another right next to it, which I thought was weird. Well my next signal maybe 2 feet away was a Draped bust LC, and thatā€™s when the real fun began. I ended up pulling 14 copper coins and a handful of buttons and musket balls within a 50 foot radius that day, and my only explanation is that there was a small farm stand there for a few years. Needless to say I returned the next day and was able to save another 7 copper coins within the same area all of them being early American. I was able to save 21 early American copper coins total and 18 of them were of the draped bust variety and 5 of those were half cents! Hereā€™s the whole run down with dates:
-1781 Spanish half reale
-1795 Liberty Cap
-1798 Draped Bust (3 total)
-1800 Draped Bust
-1801 Draped Bust (3 total)
-1802 Draped Bust
-1803 Draped Bust (3 total)
-1806 Draped Bust
-1807 Draped Bust
-1808 Classic Head (2 total)

-1804 Draped Bust Half Cent
-1805 Draped Bust Half Cent
-1806 Draped Bust Half Cent
-1807 Draped Bust Half Cent(2 total)
-1917 Mercury dime

Talk about a "field of dreams" - you've found it! That's a lifetime of early coppers for most of us on the East Coast. Congrats1
Thank you so much! Iā€™m super grateful to have experienced a site like this!

Amazing finds

Agree with everyone else - WOW
I'd hunt the site over and over and over again. Then I'd hunt it again with a bigger coil and even with different machines...grid and cross grid and then wait for a rainy day and do it again. What a site! Makes me wish I was in the Northeast...may have to call friends in the Mass area.

Congrats on this early US copper find of a lifetime. The quality and quantity of your finds in just the last week are almost hard to believe. Can't wait to see what you find next.

My posts from this past week were some of my highlights as Iā€™m new to posting on here which is why some of them were moved, this haul though is a pretty recent find though!

Thank you so much! I went back once after this and scored a few more coppers. Unfortunately the ground is frozen but as soon as it thaws out Iā€™ll be back!

Well... that's just an insanely wonderful day of detecting! The condition of most of your coins is jaw-dropping. Well done sir, well done!
Thank you so much! This site has really been unreal, lucky all around with the amount of history and the nice soil!

If it was previously ploughed, I would have guessed a small disturbed Cache.

I thought the same thing because the field does get plowed, but I also found around 20 mixed matched buttons in the same concentrated area so I have no idea!

That's totally amazing - a huge congrats ! :occasion14:
Now ... keep going back until you find nothing - then go back again !

Good Hunting !
Thank you so much I appreciate it! And thatā€™s the plan haha!

A couple of your threads were moved to metal detecting because you stated in the post they were found a couple of years ago but were posted in the" Today's Finds" forum. Finds in "Today's Finds do not have to have actually been found today, but they do have to be very recent finds. :headbang:

Haha everything Iā€™ve posted except the ring was found in 2021 but I understand!

Thats just plain inspiring thanks for sharing, my second time ever metal detecting I got on a virgin colonial site just by dumb luck (and some good observations ;)) but didn't do nearly as well as you.
I think my favorite finds from that day was a 1809 classic head half cent and a silver thimble but I got a nice holed reale and didn't know what i had until i got home (thought it was a Nickle the sun was going down). Thats a great day man I'm jonesing to dig now thats why I love this site!
