Hello
Can someone please tell me what I found. It is a 1989D Jefferson Nickel Deep Dark Chocolate Brown that looks black . There is initials and lettering and numbers on it. Around the outer rim of the coin is a smooth thick brown with a silver or nickel coloring lining ? The coin is smooth in coloring if I said this right. The details are very good. I don't know what it is. There is no sign of damage by water or anything else. Its a regular Nickel but of another substance in coloring.

" PC Police " ???? "rainbows and butterflies" ?? C'mon - we can't reply without denigrating remarks ? Instead of an apology ,
you'd rather talk about the "pc police" ? Really ?? This was the OP's second time posting here and you treat him/her like that ??

You need a real camera because those photos are worthless. Where is this " initials and lettering and numbers on it" ?

Your right I do need a camera. Actually the Nicklel is Dark Brownish . It is not black neither tarnished. Its possible that it was struck on a pennie planchet. Looking into to that now with a professional . My camera made it look black but its a dark chocolate. The initials or on the clothing. They are big . SUrprise you do see them.

I agree, allot of my photos are just like that, I'm not going to run out and buy a new camera just because you say so. The guy is trying to learn, what kind of charter member are you, the arrogant one?
Not at all, I am an honest one. Does that offend you? :sleepy4:

There's no need to speak to anyone like that.
Like what, straightforward?

That was very rude of you to comment like this. It is people like you that make people think twice about posting their finds.
Really? I feel sorry if you really do feel that way.

He never seen a dark nickel like that! That's why we post here. To show our finds and ask what they are,if we do not know!Just be kinder with the way you put your words. Oh maybe you can purchase a real camera for him with the $$$ you make with YOUR findings. Have a GOOD DAY!:laughing7:
I understand and sometimes words are misinterpreted when they are put to type, versus said face to face. I have a halfway decent digital camera he can have, i'll even pay the postage. PM me ossean and it's yours. How's that for ya Dave?

This is not a very good comment to make to a newbie, you need to retract that remark & apologize. Just maybe it's his first dug nickel and doesn't realize that some coins come out of the ground looking this way. Another, he may not have a good camera.
I'm not going to retract anything. I didn't break any forum rules. If I offended anybody, I apologize, it was unintentional. I wasn't trying to sound like an :censored: I was just stating the obvious. Also, I did not notice that they(ossean) were a new member. Not that it should have any bearing on anything, new member, old member, charter member, we are all the same. Nobody gets special treatment, i'm no politician. Furthermore, if this was the first nickel they dug, so what? I didn't mention anything about the color of it, or the fact that there was no such a thing as a 1989 silver nickel. If I was truly trying to be rude, I could have ran in several directions with this post but I didn't.
I was more interested in the "initials and lettering and numbers on it" . That was the wording that made me reply to this thread. It was mentioned in the title and it was mentioned in the actual post, yet never explained. The photos did not show anything as to what ossean was referring to. I asked about it and yet even now, it has not yet been answered. To me this is paramount to the thread, not the color of the nickel. Instead everyone on here just kept talking about the stupid color of the nickel. Three other members mentioned not seeing any numbers, lettering etc. on it and yet still it was never answered as to what they were, nor where they were located on the nickel. So i'll try again... What are the initials, lettering and numbers on it?
When I said they need a "real" camera I was referring to something other than the cellphone they used to take those with. Or at least mention what you are talking about since you can't see it on the photos.

What it all boils down to is if you mention something specific in your thread and the photos aren't good enough to see the details then at least explain the details that we cannot see. That's all.

To you ossean I apologize sincerely and welcome to treasurenet I was not trying to offend you and my offer for the camera stands.

I can see something now that you mention where they are and the size of them but it is still too blurry to make out anything.

Yeah digemup that does offend me, just because it's the truth does not make it right. Even if he were a seasoned veteran like yourself it still wouldn't be right. Anybody with half a brain can see that the guy is trying to learn something. I'm surprised a big shot like you can't see the difference. Just your arrogant righteousness is all you can see.
Yet you are the one on here calling me names. Ironic isn't it?

What name would that be?

Comon guys lets not hijack ossean's thread. He is new here and we don't want to scare him off. Lets get back to his original intent and find some info for him. :headbang:
