I recently obtained permission to hunt a church yard built in 1890 so I went and did an hour long scout on the half acre lot. I hit penny after penny with many being 66 and newer. 2 wheats in the 50's and canadian pennies from the 40's.......what makes me scratch my head is they were all 6" deep....2 70's quarters and 3 66 and newer dimes were also at this depth.......I was told the lawn was never redone that the owner could recall. I don't want to tear this place up but I feel I may need to in order to get closer to turn if the century. Btw.....I passed by 20 penny hits in ten feet because they were 6" and I got tired of digging them.

You are kicking butt & I love the silver dimes, Buffalo nickel & fire department badge -- cool! :blob9: :hello2:

The owner sounds extra nice! If he's a lot older than you & seems like he'd appreciate some help, ya might want to do a one-time surprise shoveling of his sidewalk or driveway after big snowstorm next winter, could then share mulled wine or fermented cider or whatever you guys sip in the freezing winters up there these days, lol. (I escaped NY frigid winters after 6 years in aged but wonderful cold farmhouse near Chazy & Montreal many years ago, but my sis & hubby have been enjoying freezing their buns near Ithaca for the past 40 years, ha-ha.)
