1858 Silver Coin

I’ve been revisiting an old Southern Maine cellar hole for about a week and a half. I was pretty sure the site was 1800’s and and after today I’m absolutely sure. First time finding silver!

Thats sweet! Your dedication paid off!

Beautiful 1858 Victoria 20 cent coin

Sweet find and welcome aboard!

I’ve known the poster and her family since she was about 3 years old. All I’m going to say is, the hobby of metal detecting has now been forever changed! Congratulations on your first silver, can’t wait to come visit for our first hunt together!

Well done Twitchy on the nice silver. I live in midcoast Maine and can assure you this state has incredible history. With research and hard work you will find many amazing coins and relics

That's a great coin! I have never found one and I live in Canada. That's the first year Canadian coins were minted and the only year Canadian 20 cents piece was produced.

Ok...I drop out for a few days...and there's been TWO twent cent coins found! I'm not sure of the rarity or significance of this Canadian piece, but man...great find!! Congrats, Ddf.
