Found this small badge. Corroded. It appears to have letters. Above that I can see crossed items. The area as the terminus from inland quarried rock to the wharf where steamboats would load the rocks (Stones) and take them to stone cutters. Maybe a union or fraternal organization? Looks like an old ribbon badge , probably from a mining convention or holiday like July 4th , or miners union. It could just be a state one or maybe from one of the mining towns, Cripple Creek, Leadville, etc

Hey...that’s great. Never saw that! It was found in Washington state, but sure enough...the Colorado State Seal has crossed pick and hammer. Now to check out the other lead...maybe a convention or meeting...

Here are some Colorado badge examples:

Very interesting, I'm thinking along the same lines as Charlie, possibly a medal drop. :icon_scratch:

Maybe something like this?

Thanks to all that weighed in. I would’ve never found viable solutions to what this small badge was. I will mark it off as "solved", even though I do not know if it was a militia insignia, event souvenir or lapel pin. I am posting another option. My wife said it reminds me of collectible spoons or thimbles. Many collected the fifty states. I show an example below:
