1873 S2 double die IH penny

now I have 2 coin dealers who confirmed my IH penny is a 1873 S2 double die? yes!!!!!!!!!!

XF_AU condition even though its green ? i,b,e,r,t,y doubled? take a close look at the "r"

pictur # 2 is an extreme close up and shows marks that you cant see regularly.

yeah ok the "R" does look funny! Lotta times digital pics do not reproduce close-ups that show detail like a 15X loop right on the object might. Still a-kickin' find!

Great coin! They do come out of the ground in good condition depending on the type of soil, moisture, acidity, etc. I dug some pretty old coins that looked very good and I've dug some that look like they had been buried in fertilizer. Im sure conservator knows The r looks more doubled than the rest, strange.

If it is worth some bucks you might want to think about getting it graded and slabbed by a grading service such as PCGS or ANACS. Awesome find!! HH

JD that is awesome, I also have found a few Indians in great shape. Most of the time they are pretty corroded. Probably due to fertilizer products. Hey JD we need to get a another hunt togather soon. Tsgman
