1865 Indian head and a wagon from the 1800's

Just got back from a run up into Canada yesterday. While waiting to get loaded at Higgin's rigging Co. of Niagara Falls New York, I found these. The manager said that they actually used to use those back at the turn of the century. Anyway returned to the 1836 house I have been hunting now when I can. I have covered most of the front and have focused my attention to the back. I found this 1865 Indian head tonight at 5 inches. Also found a perfectly good square nail (amazing condition). Same area I found the civil war button last week. A newer wheat penny and some kind of metal?? Headed back Sat. and swing some more. I know that there is a lot more stuff in the ground but I am not good enough yet to know when to dig. Lot's of "iffy signals" I'm sure someone else could go in there and find some good stuff. I just hope the house doesn't sell any time soon.

I wish I could have because I would restore it and hook a team of horses to it and ride it around just like days before the auto came about. That would ride like a train and be hard on the arse ;D

Nice story CJ!
Appears a really cool place to hunt and that wagon isn awesome!
I found a large nut yesterday. It may indeed be an axle nut!

I'd say you and the ACE 250 are doing real well!
But, when in doubt, dig and you'll never miss a worthy target! :)

Good luck,
GRB

There's a guy named Schrecky in Ohio who would love to help you hunt that great site.

Nice 1865! How long did it take to dig up the wagon? If you're really good, they won't be able to tell where it was after the next rain.

Re: 1865 Indian head and a wagon from the 1800's

That's a nice Indian!! I just dug a newer one (1871) & it was in such bad shape the Indian was embarrased & left! So far, all of the iffy signals I dug would've been OK IF I hadn't dug them. ::)

Congrats on the nice finds & get back there soon so we can see more!!!

Re: 1865 Indian head and a wagon from the 1800's

What kind o' signal did you get when you found the wagon? Cool stuff-thanks for posting

Re: 1865 Indian head and a wagon from the 1800's

Continued great finds at that site! I would be digging almost every 'iffy' signal. Listen to what the Ace is telling you. Always check the target from at least two directions. If you get any kind of repeatable signal, DIG IT! There can't be a lot of junk there, so turn the discrimination up to about seven. Rescan every signal, and if it looks at all promising, DIG IT! I would love to have a site like that to detect. You're doing great, just keep learning what the Ace is telling you. Listen carefully and use your head. You will be rewarded.

HH,

Dr. Ace

Re: 1865 Indian head and a wagon from the 1800's

Thanks again guys. It took me a long time to dig that wagon out. I had to hire a backhoe ;D. Is that Indian a Fatty?? Don't know what a fatty is, yet. I'm hoping for a key date Indian from this place :-X. I still have a lot of ground there. When the beans are out I'm going in the field that surrounds this place (90 acres). There was a house next to this one which was next to the train station. That's where I found the large cent last week. It was next to the old sidewalk which is hardly visible now. I've searched along side of it a little. Grass is too tall and poison ivy galore.
