holding 1852 1 dollar gold coin I just recovered 04-04-19.JPGWow! Is all I can say. Was invited back
by my generous host to hunt the Pa farm once again before farmer plants crops. We speculate this area was once part of the Gettysburg campaign 1863 with all Federal and Confederate buttons and plates that we have all dug. No Reb buttons or plates today but my Nox 800 did sniff out a solid lock on 12 signal at about 4-5 inches in depth. After careful pinpointing and popping the plug I thought for sure I had a Jefferson nickel ! Boy was i pleasantly surprised to be looking at a small gold colored coin with a number 1 on the reverse. It wasn’t until I put it in my hand did I fully realize what I had just recovered- my first ever gold coin-1852 1 Dollar gold coin. I thought I would never dig a gold coin in a thousand lifetimes. The good Lord I give all the glory and thanks for allowing me to dig such a coveted piece of gold coin history. Happy hunting .

Wayne

Congrats on the really nice 1852 $1 Gold Coin and the Banner! The find definitely deserves to be up top with the other Banner finds! Sorry I did not see the Thread or vote Banner earlier! I haven't spent very much time on TNET lately due to working on my' cars and my' daughter's car and somehow missed seeing the Thread for the find.

man that's what we all dream about. congrats!

Phenomenal relichound! Congrats and thanks for sharing! Deff a banner find!

congrats on getting the Banner and having a Banner time with Banner friends, very awesome!

Congrat's on the hole-in-one Holy-grail of md'ing: A gold coin. Great pix. Great story. You can now learn the secret hand-shake for the club-members. And you now get a key to the executive wash room ! :icon_thumleft:

Why silver color on edges of backside 2 above each side of center same as bottom in 2 different pictures...counterfeit or camera flash

Absolutely Beautiful, the coin and the reason you gave for finding that coin!

More Golden Days to Ya!..........63bkpkr

@RH.... Did you see the last find of mine? The badge looking thing?Forgot to post the pic on my thread, maybe later. ... I managed to ID it last night. A 1937 ROA (Radio Orphan Annie) Decoder Badge. Well the back half of it anyway. Saw a whole one for sale for about $ 26 on the net. Apparently there were different designs of them for 5 years. Ovaltine was their sponsor. Can’t believe people have all of them in there collection and in one piece. The part I got was so thin and the date portion was bent down. After rinsing it off I saw what I thought was numbers. Heated it up and gingerly bent it back enough to peek under and read it. Googled 1937 badge and shortly found a few good pics of what it once looked like. Almost tossed it into a junk box.

Are you still doing the happy dance over that gold coin? Killer find it was.

Ha ha ! oh Yes, still can’t believe the Good Lord allowed me to dig that beautiful coin. I can now retire from relic hunting as I dug 4 firsts from this site; my first Confederate Block I button, first Confederate Virginia button with complete backmark, first Confederate Georgia Frame Buckle and my first Gold coin-1852 Liberty Head 1 Dollar coin.

And a very nice one at that. Still looks new! Congrats

We had a blast. I was talking to the owner of the farm today. I was wondering why there are so many forged nails there. One opinion he had is they just threw their junk along that road. (People would never do that, right?) We still haven't figured the site out. Farmer will be discing soon, I'll see which set he uses and will know if he rotates the crops next month. Fall should be good.

Congrats on the well deserved banner find and welcome to the club :icon_thumleft:

relichound, Huge congrats my friend... After 30 years, I'm still looking for my gold coin... I bought an 1851 $1 gold coin year's ago, and when tested with my CTX3030, it's close to your Nox.. 12-11 or 12-12..... Such a small coin, but, priceless to find..... Could be a 2nd one there... Good Luck Wayne.... basssmann
