Tonight I found my oldest coin ever an 1816 One Half Reale . At a location I and others have hunted to death for years . It was in a spot worn away by erosion . It was not much more than an inch deep . I was using an F-75 . One reason it may never have been found is because there is lots of trash there and an underwater metal drainage pipe nearby .

Iron Patch says: If you guys want to push your Real/Reale lecture you'll be doing a lot of correcting.. including me! I always use reale (for 1/2 real & 1 real) as do most others.

LOL, if your bud Romeo can say it correctly that you can. :tongue3:

Besides it is one less letter to type

But wouldn't a half real always be counterfeit? :D :D :D

Actually Iron Patch , half real would be counterfit but the other half would be real ,so in reality I would end up with a 1/4 Real . Being that the remaining 1/4 Real is not cut into quartered pieces this is a coin that doesn't exist so therefore I have an unreal Real that doesn't exist . Then there's the question of is it Real or Reale , this is becoming all to unreal to me . Using the term " I think therefore I am " as a premise for existence , the coin is , but does not think , so it exist's only in my imagination and therefore does not have it's own reality . Thank you for a thought provoking concept . Thanks also to all who have and will be participating on this thread . I took your advice and put it on the Cob Forum .

ahhh... but a 1/4 real does exist. :D

That looks very crude. Possibly a great counterfeit!

Comments?
I was thinking the same thing. It doesn't take away the importance of the find though.

It indeed seems to be crude . Here's a couple of bigger pictures to bring out more of the detail . I took Iron Patch's advice and posted it in the Cobs section of the forum and am getting quite a bit of help there . Thank you Iron Patch we are having a lot of fun with it over there and may even figure this mystery out .
