Hit a new spot td for an hour before the heat got to me but it wa worth it. The 10 cent is bigger than most of the older dimes I find and really thin too. Few buttons including the deer button. It has a back mark but ill have to clean it to see it. It's a two piece brass button any cleaning suggestions. I have no idea what the piece with the bear face on it is. Looking for an Id on that. Thanks

I'm voting BANNER on the dime too! You never see Draped Bust dimes posted here and it's an amazing find. The rest of the hunt is awesome too! Congrats again on a really fine outing!! :icon_thumright:

If I were to guess what the other object is, that looks like an animal face. I would be inclined to say it is a candle snuffer that has been stepped on or squashed in some manner. The small tube is where the handle went. The small angle piece was just for strength.

LOVE the dime by the way!

Keep us posted.

I willl go back to my room now before someone notices.

HI BOB!

Way to go on the Draped Bust Dime! You don't see a lot of 200+ year old US silver posted, Congrats! :icon_thumleft:

Great coin! We don't find 'em that old around here....

Congrats on the early silver, very nice indeed.

The lion (animal) item could be the corner brace where two wood dowels intersected. Just a thought as I was looking at it as a pipe and started thinking why the cross bracing for strength? Cool item btw.

Thanks for the nice comments and a few banner votes.

That dime is sweet!!

I'm surprised and a touch disappointed that this 1805 Draped Bust dime didn't generate more excitement , and ultimately make
BANNER - this is a genuinely rare find ! We see way more gold coins ,and 1877 indians, and 1916 D mercs , and they seem to make
banner with ease ? Oh Well !

Thanks argentium. Tough crowd

Testing they just seem to be circulation scratches but I could be wrong.
Steve most of my time is spent on virgin ground and I when I'm there I just look for a hot spot and then I hammer it. When the finds thin out I expand the search. Very nice to see early us silver. In fact it's my second oldest us silver.
Anybody else have an idea what the monkey thing could be. Posted it in the what is it forum and someone said maybe a whiskey decanter. Thanks for looking

Oh, yeah...nice

Thanks argentium. Tough crowd

yes, i posted one last year in better shape than yours and as far as i can tell it did not make banner. then again i don't really understand the banner thing. anyhow congrats on the nice find.
