1800's silver, fishscale, military button... and a messy site.

I hit a spot recently that has been "hunted out". It's been hunted alright... by a bunch of useless morons.

I literally filled 30 + holes today. Some were so big, they made you wonder what in the hell they were digging for. "They must be using a winter shovel", I thought to myself...
There were batteries thrown out in the middle of the field. Junk was left in their holes. There was absolutely no respect whatsoever for our hobby or for the landscape. Sure, it was a field... in the woods, not far from a path... but that doesn't make it ok. You're just going to ruin it for all of us.

I know I'm not perfect, but I've learned from my mistakes. These guys just keep on doing the same 'ole.

Apologies, rant over.

Small buckle

1907 LC

Military button? Naval? Costume? Maybe one of you can help with ID. (Ahem, IronPatch)

1916 5 Cents (fishscale)

1888 Victoria 25 Cents (The reverse is wasted. I could barely make out the date...)

Lead seal? (This one's for you smokers...)

Some sort of "Star" pin.

Happy hunting!

Nice finds GioTheGreek!

Your right , their idiots. It's hard enough to dig your own holes sometimes, let alone having to cover someone elses too.
like that little buckle. great finds.

Great group of finds there Gio.

I hope you took some time to fill in the "A" holes, holes.

BTW that is no Canadian quarter........that is the one and only Canadian 20 cent piece the date will be 1858, and tough one to come by for sure. It's easy to ID as the quarters don't have that hair style. also it will be a little lighter / smaller. Congrats.

Congrat's on the rare twenty cent piece !- I'm so in love with silver Vickies - Man I wanna move way north (or across the pond ) so
I can find me some !!!

Thanks guys! Wow Rick, I had no idea! Thanks for the ID! :) :notworthy:

It was so worn in the back, I couldn't tell. Something looked off when I looked into my coin book, but I thought it was just my brain playing games.

Nice going on the 20 cent piece, and that buckle is a sweet little find also, GREAT hunt that you guys had.

Hey if you want some help to clean that place out, that way there will be no reason for the skunks to come back, Just say so.

I said something similar, only the other day. My Dad gave a good reply 'do burglars leave your house tidy'. Good answer I thought, as it's probably the same type of person!

Great finds Gio! I'm sorry i didn't fill those holes back in I was in a rush!

The button I think is a early highlander regiment one. There were many highlanders from all over canada.. but if you turn that upside down you will see something that resembles the Stag head used by the Canadian Highlanders.
Seaforth Highlanders Regimen button.JPG

now each regiment had different uses of the stag head, even Nova Scotia Highlanders, North Nova Scotian Highlanders and the Pictou Highlanders (pictou is in nova scotia) used different insignias but always containing the Stag Head.

Hah, I saw these finds on Reddit. Still nice here.

Congratz on an AWESOME assortment of items...Davers

Lol @ Loyalist. Nice try... I know it wasn't you.

It does appear to have a horse or stag in the shield. It's just so corroded, that I can only make out a few of the letters. If it's in Latin, I'll never guess the sentence. C'est la vie!

Gio
you found some outrageous stuff there....interesting that you live in the, Land of Old Forts....so the way i see it you got to find great things, love the scroll work on that little buckle.
Can you hunt some of the old forts or around them ? Congrats HH
