Hey guys,
Met up with dave today to the spot where he scored his killer barbers the other day, we got there nice and early and started gridding, my first target was a wheat which was promising, next after that I got a wierd choppy signal next to a huge boulder, the vdi's were all over the place, to my surprise it was a paper thin 1794 Spanish silver!!!:headbang: my first Spanish silver and oldest silver to date!!!, 20141017_135106.jpg20141017_135302.jpgnext target was the 1864 2 center, This one has real nice detail, I managed an indian and more wheats before grabbing an 1838 holed large cent to complete the trifecta!20141017_165417.jpg20141017_174759.jpg20141017_174408.jpg 4 silvers including the Spanish silver, 2 center, indian, and some relics!! I had a blast, thanks for looking and hh!!

now for the funny part, I lost the Spanish silver in daves truck , now I get to drive 20 something miles to go get it lol!!

Yep, I almost got skunked Dave. A few wheats, clad, pocket knife and miscellaneous junk. As Treb ( and Mark Knopfler ) says, " Some days you're the bug, some days you're the windshield " lol.
Are they cutting that corn in those big fields between you and I yet? I'd still like to try them even though you said you'd never heard of anyone having luck detecting them.
not sure which ones you're talking about. the ones outside nanticoke?

Lol, yeah. I was trying to avoid giving the trolls an idea they apparently aren't capable of having on their own.

I'm gonna have to go take a look today .I need some new spots . cashed in on a few spots i knew i could get permission for and found nothing .

Congrats on finding and being able to get a date on your Spanish Silver!
Love the large crotal bell, now that's a big one! :o

Dave

PS. Here's a large crotal I found last year.
Unfortunately, it was in four pieces when I found it, so I glued it back together! :laughing7:

Congrats on your first Spanish/oldest coin. Outstanding hunt!!! I love the 2-center too. :occasion14:
That was very nice of Dave to leave all those coins for you. That's one h-ll of a friend. :tongue3:

Thanks doug, i thanked dave for planting them coins for me lol

I told you before, but you just don't listen! These things we find do NOT want to BE found! To that end they will take whatever means necessary to get hidden again! Still don't believe me? Just watch what happens to items you dug up and see how many times they LITERALLY jump out of your hand! Back into the hole, roll under a table or just stick to the mud on your glove and try to get away.

Be CAREFUL!!

Nice finds and refinds! Good thing you have a friend like Dave! :)

LOL, I believe it, I can't tell you how many times an item has jumped back in a hole, for example, I was telling some family the history of an old flat I found, then it flies out of my hand mid-conversation, and I find it under a radiator after 10 mintutes of searching!

Well, I DID warn him about finds. ;)

Poor baby! LOL

C'mon folks! I think we should all give Old Dude an Honorable Mention for his return! Whaddya say!!

I agree. And he did it in a timely fashion.

Great finds man! Love it!

Don't bother. I checked. Corn is still there and field are super wet. They won't have big equipment in there for a bit yet.

Hey wait a minute here, are we forgetting who originally found it? The only reason he got his mitts on it was because my sleep deprived self lost it in his truck, lol jk, actually he didn't have to make the effort to look for it, so thanks again dave!

Hey guys, look, what I found ~ a 1794 1/2 Reale minted in Mexico City! Coincidence Chris found one too haha!

I am pretty sure some people would have made you wait and said " Oh I feel so bad because I did not find your beautiful and priceless little treasure that you should have had in the safe pocket of your pouch ", and let you hang like that for a few days lol.

lol, like I said, sleep deprivation makes one do stupid things.............

here ya go dave, this was the best I can do so far, all I did was soak it in water for 6 hrs and toothpick it, the toothpick lifted the crud off the front pretty good, but the back all the toothpick seemed to do was "shine" the brown crud, I don't want to get real aggressive with this one, it has real nice detail and that nice green patina I don't want to ruin, any ideas anyone??back.jpgfront.jpg
