Hey guys,
Met up with dave today to the spot where he scored his killer barbers the other day, we got there nice and early and started gridding, my first target was a wheat which was promising, next after that I got a wierd choppy signal next to a huge boulder, the vdi's were all over the place, to my surprise it was a paper thin 1794 Spanish silver!!!:headbang: my first Spanish silver and oldest silver to date!!!, 20141017_135106.jpg20141017_135302.jpgnext target was the 1864 2 center, This one has real nice detail, I managed an indian and more wheats before grabbing an 1838 holed large cent to complete the trifecta!20141017_165417.jpg20141017_174759.jpg20141017_174408.jpg 4 silvers including the Spanish silver, 2 center, indian, and some relics!! I had a blast, thanks for looking and hh!!

now for the funny part, I lost the Spanish silver in daves truck , now I get to drive 20 something miles to go get it lol!!

Well, cleaning it is better than losing it, isn't it?[emoji54]

NO!! If you lose it, somebody can find it again and have nice uncleaned coin! (If he's not dumb enough to give it back! :tongue3: )

If you had heard him on the phone when he called to ask me to look, lol. He wasn't joking when he said he was sick. I could hear it in his voice.

Well, I DID warn him about finds. ;)

Poor baby! LOL

C'mon folks! I think we should all give Old Dude an Honorable Mention for his return! Whaddya say!!

:occasion18::blob3::occasion18: Wonderful Coins! And since it turned out okay, fun to read about the found-lost-found-returned dance, lol. :icon_thumright: Andi

Awesome finds. I can't imagine digging something that old, although I hope to one of these days.
Great bunch of finds and a great hunt.

Great coinage variety there ! Congrats on the super hunt =)

wow , awesome hunt jon, I'm guessing dave got skunked? or is he too shy to show what he found

Yep, I almost got skunked Dave. A few wheats, clad, pocket knife and miscellaneous junk. As Treb ( and Mark Knopfler ) says, " Some days you're the bug, some days you're the windshield " lol.
Are they cutting that corn in those big fields between you and I yet? I'd still like to try them even though you said you'd never heard of anyone having luck detecting them.

Nice going on the old silver, it must been a real flip-flop of emotions realizing you had found and misplaced your oldest silver. I think you just had a case of the fever, one gets their head all full of great feelings and it doesn't know what takes place after that, meaning we place the find down without thinking and forgetting where it is. Personally I've cleaned out the pouch, pockets, truck, sweating it bad with that sick feeling in the pit of the gut and the heavy weighing on the heart thinking I'd lost the find, only to find it once again and feeling the relief. 20 miles and even a hug to get it back would of been a gift.
It's always neat to read about a person sharing the experience of checking the pocket/pack/pouch every few minutes to make sure the find is still there while they're on the way home, many times the fingers have pressed against the pants pocket feeling the round disk against the leg just to make sure it was safe.
Congrats again on the find and having a buddy to do the saves.

I gladly gave it back because it's his Pepper, but he didn't get a hug! Lol.

What a great day...right up till you noticed your child missing....heh
maybe not as intense as a kid missing lol, but man I was freaked out!!

Hurry up and clean that 2 center. I wanna see both sides clean.
gonna work on that this morning! I was exhausted yesterday
CLEAN!?!?!?!?!? HORRORS!!! :o
yeah gary I know, no 400 grit, im using qtip, water, toothpick only lol

I suppose I was a bit frantic huh? lol!!!

It must have been carried a long time before being lost because of the wear, but the most important parts are still legible. The date, denomination and mint are all there and in decent condition.

Youre a good guy dave, Im grateful you put in the effort to search your truck for it, That's it, no more hunting after night shift, im sure being up for 26 hrs straight had something to do with me re losing it lol

I just realized its the same coin vino found last week, his was 1784, and bent in the center, but all his detail was perfectly legible, at least I can see what mine should've looked like by looking at his!

thanks peppers, it makes the finds more enjoyable when someone is there to witness it!, I brought it over to dave fresh out of the plug thinking it was a 3 cent silver, we both found out together what it was. I thought that was pretty cool!
