I got out today with Colonial Copper Zeus and KylePA to a farm that we hit last year. It has produced 30 coppers, 1782 half real, 1791 1 real, and a Draped Bust counterfeit dollar and since we had not detected in 2 weeks (fields are planted), we decided to give this site another shot. We knew that we were going to have to contend with cornfields, but since the farmer allowed us to "go between the rows" last year, we thought it would be a good idea to pound the site again.

To make this story short, in 2 hours, I found a button and musketball. I still did not get that perfect high tone...until I was walking up an ordinary cornrow. The signal sounded off at "Q" on "Quarter" and pinpointed at 4". I was definitely sure that it was going to be a copper, but was soon welcomed with a better target...Colonial silver!!!

Just looking at the coin in the dirt, I knew I had a 2 reales! I yelled over to CCZ, "2 reales!!!" He ran over and congratulated me until KylePA finally noticed us whooping it up. He came over and I just put it in his hand...lol.

The date turned out to be a perfectly legible 1786! This is my 2nd 2 reales for the year. :headbang: I now have 4 Spanish silvers for 2009. KKC now has 7 Spanish silvers for the 2009 season. :icon_thumleft:

KKC is only gearing up for the fall. Stay tuned-in for our Colonial seeking adventures!

Keep the passion high! :icon_thumleft: :headbang:

Kirk

P.S. We each got a Spanish silver off of this farm. Chris got the half real and Kyle got the one real. :hello2:

Dugster,

Hey, bud, thanks for the reply. I feel like I am on fire this year with Spanish silver. I already have 4 and fall hasn't even gotten here yet. :icon_thumleft: My goal is to get a couple more.

I can't wait to see what you find in the Colonial fields of NC this fall. Go get 'em, bud!

Have you been finding any Spanish loot this year? Keep sweeping for those cobs!

Absolutely beautiful...

4 spanish silvers already this year? Awesome.

That must have been one sweet beep. A two reale is still on my wish list. Seems all we have up here are 1/2 and 1 reales. (not that I'm complaining).

Good luck with your future hunts...

Brian,

I would give up my two 2 reales this year for that AWESOME Pine Tree shilling you have. :D Last year, I got skunked on Spanish silver while my brother and uncle each got 2. Our group really hones in on the coppers and at times, that elusive Spanish silver shows up in the Colonial dirt.

KKC (KirkKyleChris) has found three 2 reales since April 2008. They were widely circulated in our area of PA.

Keep the passion, Brian!

Kevin,

Hey, man, how are you doing? I heard you guys have been doing well, too. Congrats on your Seated silver a month ago. Paco's farm is still killing it! :icon_thumleft: I have been still thinking about that 1780 German schilling he dug. :headbang: You guys are due for a large Colonial silver. Keep on searching hard!

I have been lucky enough to dig two 2 reales this year. The other one is an 1810 and I dug it in March.

Keep the passion high, Kevin! :icon_thumleft: :hello2:

Hey Kirk,

I just saw this post from last month and was blown away for three reasons: Number 1) Spanish Silver, Number 2) Spanish Silver from the 1700s, and Number 3), Spanish Silver 2 Reale! I've found half reales and one reales, but never a two reale. Impressive!

i would have dropped it numerous times due to the fact my hands would be quivering so much.
