I got out today with Colonial Copper Zeus and KylePA to a farm that we hit last year. It has produced 30 coppers, 1782 half real, 1791 1 real, and a Draped Bust counterfeit dollar and since we had not detected in 2 weeks (fields are planted), we decided to give this site another shot. We knew that we were going to have to contend with cornfields, but since the farmer allowed us to "go between the rows" last year, we thought it would be a good idea to pound the site again.

To make this story short, in 2 hours, I found a button and musketball. I still did not get that perfect high tone...until I was walking up an ordinary cornrow. The signal sounded off at "Q" on "Quarter" and pinpointed at 4". I was definitely sure that it was going to be a copper, but was soon welcomed with a better target...Colonial silver!!!

Just looking at the coin in the dirt, I knew I had a 2 reales! I yelled over to CCZ, "2 reales!!!" He ran over and congratulated me until KylePA finally noticed us whooping it up. He came over and I just put it in his hand...lol.

The date turned out to be a perfectly legible 1786! This is my 2nd 2 reales for the year. :headbang: I now have 4 Spanish silvers for 2009. KKC now has 7 Spanish silvers for the 2009 season. :icon_thumleft:

KKC is only gearing up for the fall. Stay tuned-in for our Colonial seeking adventures!

Keep the passion high! :icon_thumleft: :headbang:

P.S. We each got a Spanish silver off of this farm. Chris got the half real and Kyle got the one real. :hello2:

YOOOOOOOOOO brotha Kirk,

I'm super proud of this two reales recovery. I'm glad that you got a piece of Colonial silver off of this farm. Do you remember what I said before we started hunting yesterday? I said, "The best coin hasn't been found yet on this farm!"

Let's hunt the Colonial animal again next weekend! Of course, you'll have to wait until Chris and I get done with our 20-mile bike ride before we go, though. :headbang:

That colonial silver is what metal detecting dreams are made of. That memory will be with us until our dying day. I guess you made up for that day I found the half dime and Kyle found the dime and you got what Charlie Brown so depressingly said was " A ROCK " CKK strikes again.

Unc,

You forgot to mention that you and I dug 5 coppers the week before, and Kirk got skunked like you wouldn't believe. He definitely was due for something awesome!

Great job on the old silver! I have been hunting a little between the rows myself but using my small coil to do so. You guys are killing the spanish silver this year!

I want to thank everyone for the replies. I am definitely living a great detecting life now. :D Now that I think of it, I actually have three 2 reales in my career. The other one is totally worn and countermarked.

With 9 coppers and 4 Spanish silvers for the year, I could end now and call it a great year.My passion won't let me do it though. :D I just hope this fall will give me many more coppers and some more Spanish silvers. :icon_thumleft:

Keep the passion high!

That is AWESOME.

The only way I'll ever find one of those is if some kid cabbaged it out of his dad's coin collection...then lost in in the park ;D
