Had a great day hunting the newly acquired 200 acre farm that Tombac received permission to hunt. The fields are loaded with lead of all sizes. Not pictured are two large cents, a half cent and 6 buttons, one a blow hole. The farmers wife was so excited I let her borrow them to show her son. Tombac pulled up a 1794 Liberty Cap Bust with a 1793 head , a LC, and one of the nicest dandy tombac buttons with the coolest design. Many other buttons, coins, and smalls for him. The first coin of the day for me was the 1776 half reale. That put me into overdrive for the day. The 1829 French Haiti, 1 (un) Centimes is a first of this coin for me. A 1796 Cap Bust. A 1787 M.48-g New Jersey copper identified by Don SJ. A 1861 Indian and smalls.

fantastic finds. I'm curious what the eagle thing is. my first thought was part of a shako plate, but it looks thick and heavy

Man I sure have some catching up to do. Great stuff!

Thanks Jim, I'm not fishing this fall and got a early start. Lets resume the hunt for the Tavern site, year three, I think I have it narrowed down...

johnnyblaze That is one Colonial cake of a day Arty

Thanks Blaze, wish the soil was kinder to the coppers.

The plate itself is a 1/8 of an inch thick without the raised embossing of the design. Its made out of brass.

Great hunt, liking the silver and the coppers dug. Great photo shot of the long shadow of the tree, it sure makes the field very inviting to detect in.
I'm sure after this latest hunt this field has stepped up to a point in where it's now in your nightly dreams of what awesome finds that lay hidden beneath it's soft soils.

That's why they call NJ the Garden State - good stuff always coming out of the dirt there!

Congrats on onehellova hunt!!!!!

Thanks pepperj, your right on it just doesn't stop when you close your eyes, gold, silver, copper coins by the thousands. Went back today and will be posting tomorrow.

nice going on those finds arty

Thanks Dawg, Just started hunting a couple of weeks ago. Been to busy to even turn on the computer. I love the fall when it all slows down.
