I had a little time this afternoon and decided to go scout an area that is close to where I found my Rev War era Dandy button the other day. I walked a long way following a stone wall and came to a clearing on a knoll that looked like it would have been a great place for a home. Turned on my T2 and got a very nice signal right off the bat. Looked at my lonely left hand and sadly there was no digging tool in it. I left it in my truck, and yes I am a huge idiot. :-) and I'm well aware of this fact. So I made the walk of shame back to my truck and retrieved my digger. At this point I decided to walk down to where I found the Dandy. I swung on my way across the field and dug a couple of signals along the way. Found what I think is an old bell and also some sort of curved buckle.

Eventually I got down to my spot and got a nice signal that I dug and out came a very ugly green coin that I figured was either a wheat or an ih. It turned out to be the ugliest damn indian head on earth. :-)

I decided to scan on the very edge of a steep embankment that goes into a huge bay. Got a nice signal and dug a decent sized coin that I couldn't see any detail on. Didn't think much of it and put it in my keeper case. Scanned that area again and right beside it got another good signal. Same sized coin with no detail. Was I happy when I got home and dipped them in some hp and after a minute could see GEORGIVS. Knew I had a kg and figured the other coin may be as well. Sure enough it was. Both kg 2s. One is a Brittania and I thought I saw 1761 but am not sure. It's gonna need some more work. The HIBERNIA on the other hand is a 1760 with great detail for a copper in my area. By far my best detailed colonial and I could not be happier. This season is off to a great start and I hope it continues. Thanks for looking. All the best, Abr

Congrats on the British and Irish coppers. The Irish hafpenny looks great. always a bonus to get a copper with such detail.

Abe,
You da Man!!! Those are some sweet old coins Bud. That Indian may have been kicked out of the tribe for being so ugly. :tongue3:
I feel your pain on forgetting your digger. I've done the same thing with my pinpointer a few times.
Great post,
Doug

Sadly I do this stuff all the time :-) Always losing something or forgetting something. Think I have Alzheimer's at 37! It's that bad

Well...If I may ? you should have had the detector turned on while following along the rock wall, ...you would have noticed the missing digger much sooner.

The hibernia is awesome, very high relief left on that one. You should be happy with that one. Fantastic copper.

Thank you Rick. I couldn't be happier with that coin. Nice to finally have a colonial copper with nice detail. And yes I should have had my machine on but there's still lots of snow in the woods there so I waited until I got to the small clearing. And I was pissed :-) but now I'm not

Good looking Hibernia. Your Brit. halfpenny dates 1729-1739. Not bad for a huge idiot! :laughing7:

Ha ha. Even an idiot can have good luck I guess. Hopefully I can get some more detail on that one and thanks for the date range bud

You scored ! The real score for you is that you have access to such an obviously old and productive site !!

The funny thing is that I wasn't very excited about this spot. It's just the only place that I can dig right now. My so called good sites are either frozen or snowed in. This place has my attention now :-)

Ahhh, you didn't mention the snow, I was just thinking you may be walking past targets along the wall.

Wondering how much time you spent there ?

With this weather now we'll be good to go anywhere very soon.

Normally if I'm walking I'm swinging. This is the place with the massive power lines and it's hundreds of acres. I've spent quite a bit of time there but finally hit a colonial area. Everything else has been early to mid 19th century

This is how they looked early in the cleaning process

Great coins. As they say, it's the end result that matters, so leaving the digger doesn't matter ( UNLESS there are even better targets where you originally intended to dig, lol ).

Really nice finds. Congrats.

U da man Abe. Makes up for the round ball only day no doubt. Give me a shout today if ya get a chance. Congrats.:laughing7:
