We Rick and I had another day out on the fields, this time we started with a new field that we had not hunted yet. I got my first target within the first minute and out from the ground popped a 172 something 2 reale, could not believe my eyes and it wasn't even 07:00 in the morning yet, WOW. View attachment reale.bmp View attachment reale II.bmp This is what what it came out like after a little clean up, 20130603_RealeII.jpg 20130603_reale.jpg . Last Friday a1677 4 sols french silver and now this, ZDD is a happy camper.
The rest of the hunt didn't matter much to me after that opener but hunt we did. Eventually we ended up on the field I got my sword pummel from and I may have found the guard to the handle but I will have to straighten out out first to be sure, it just looks like a crumpled piece of brass right now. I also got a second drawer pull, some bail seals, buttons and 4 coppers.

Was a good day, again.

Another great find- with all of that detail it's a real shame that the date was lightly stamped.

Another good day for you!

The lead seals in the area suggest early French site, more so than British. Those early crossover sites are my favourite!

Love the Spanish silver. Congrats. :icon_thumleft: In the cleaned up photo, it looks like 1748 to me, but my eyes are getting old, so maybe not. :dontknow:

Very nice! You sure have been finding some nice early silver lately.

Z,
Great save !!
The image of two "Ms" on the left signifies the mint at Segovia, Spain.
The image itself represents the Roman aqueduct that runs through (over) the city.
"F" is the initial of the assayer.
Don.......

Thanks Don, I am not 100% that it is from the 20s. I thought at first it was a 1714 but when I zoom in it look like I could see a 2 there and maybe a 6.

Great looking silver, congrats on the find.

Great one! Congrats..........Hogge

freakin awesome!!, id die to dig old silver like that!

Awesome Silver Dave.

and yes folks it was literaly 2 minutes out of the car at most.

What a way to start a hunt,

Congrats.

Thanks Mackay,

I want to chime in even though it is none of my business.

For some strange reason the second part of the date is just "missing" with the rest of the coin being in "relatively" good condition it is just strange that the second part of the date is missing.
