For those interested in more detailed info... including the rare coin as well.

He was also the golden boy of the media, and has several banners here at t-net under the name bootysalvage. We shall see just how this plays out. Pretty hard to convict without iron clad evidence.....sounds like they may have the evidence though.

"Eric Schmitt was linked to the illegal sale of multiple gold coins and placed three stolen coins on the ocean floor to be found by the new investors of 1715 Fleet."

Is "salting the mine" really a thing when it comes to shipwrecks? And even if it is, this is like salting an actual gold mine that is producing and making money. You're right, @Darren in NC, greed knows no bounds. Ranks up there with putting sawdust in the transmission of a brand new car you're trying to sell.

Gonna be a horrible black eye for 1715 fleet operations....I can already here the state demanding new stricter regulations, and I would not be surprised to see at least one other salvor being investigated. Story have been swirling for years about some people's activities !!

Copied from that mentioned thread....

"Yea I think we are up to 32 silver coins or something like that. I was doing paperwork and trying to add them up and I think it's 32.

It is not easy to find 32 coins on the 1715 fleet these days. It just makes what Greg and Brent did with those 51 gold coins just that more impressive. But there is still time to beat that and I'm sure Brent wouldn't mind more gold!"

It makes one wonder if these 3 coins found 2017 were the 3 that were dropped on the bottom by Eric Schmitt?

The link has the tags of time-line of recoveries.
These 3 were from the 2017 season.

I can't imagine the feelings of some that invested in this salvage company after the salted coins were placed.

Worse yet actually finding one (or more) of these coins. Finding out the coins were real, but just placed there.
It makes one doubt the honesty of past recoveries by bs.

Certainly the salvage corporation has some real legal issues now going forward.

Their license, credibility, future investments, litigation from past investors.

Was this just one member of the family that was involved?

I don't think so....that was Dan porter, who is now involved in my other thread "trouble in paradise" about recent split between Dan (M.R.R.) And Carl allen (allen-x) in the Bahamas πŸ‡§πŸ‡Έ over the maravilla 1656 wreck. This was Eric Schmitt, and booty salvage research and recovery. Another contractor for queens jewels.....at least I think there separate recoveries from the planted coins ?? πŸ€”

Well it is hot off the press so to speak.....I would imagine others will be implicated, and mud will be thrown at others in a court case....we will see πŸ‘€ πŸ€” !!
