Got out yesterday to what I thought was a new site but turned out it was one that I've been to before. Totally overgrown with barberries & prickers. I decided to wade in to see what I might find & was rewarded with the small tombac button as well as the buckle. I got pretty scratched up and finally had enough with the struggle and went to another site & nabbed the 2 other buttons.

While I was at the 2nd site I looked at lidar & saw what might be another potential site & hiked off to it & was rewarded with the larger button. The sun was beginning to get lower in the sky so I hiked out & will visit it another day.

HH & Thanksgiving guys!

Liking the buckle. Congrats
That's one design that I have never found.
That site needs a burn off, or a visit with a bush hog.

I've had to detect with the coil totally vertical using the front edge to get between the undergrowth.

Nice old buckle!!! Looks like some brush hunting😳 Congrats!!!

I have never used lidar to search for new sites to investigate. Would you mind giving a brief explanation of how you access and use it ?

looks like some tough swingin' but your perseverance paid off, well done and thanks for posting

Each state probably has their own version but here's what I use.

I use hill shade to view the areas like an x ray as well as state images from the spring to see what the area looks like.

You can right click to get the GPS coordinates to the hike to.

You also have the ability to see where you are as well as being able to track as you hike.
