The power company had their heavy equipment out over the last week and were clearing out large trees along the power line. I have found some cool fur trade artifacts in that immediate area and, given that they ripped the ground up good, I figured I better go for a quick scan. I dotted the areas and hit a strong signal on a patch open dirt....I figured it was a ring but when I spotted the silver edge I about fell over! I have always suspected that the fur trade people brought silver coins with them (Northern Michigan) but have just never found one. Any additional info on the coin would be appreciated. :) IMG_20180806_210358.jpgIMG_20180806_210426.jpgIMG_20180806_210411.jpgIMG_20180806_221853.jpgIMG_20180806_222244.jpg

I was resigned to the thought that I would never find one either..but knew deep down SOMEONE would have eventually had been there and possibly dropped one. Oldest coin for me by 110 years!

Congrats on the bucket list silver. Very rare for our state. I would expect something like this to be more likely found in one of our rivers up north. Great find!
