It looks like an Elizabeth 1 but has an odd appearance. Just doesn't look like most hammered coins that I've seen. Very interesting. What's the story behind it? Just curious what kind of site and where it was found.

It looks like one of the fakes I have.
BUT
If real...

I actually collect fake coins... especially cobs and Spanish coins...
I have ALOT... Pretty much all known styles.
In various metals including precious metal fakes.
I have several that resemble this...
BUT they are not as worn.
This appears to be real coin.

Sure does look good. Keeping my fingers crossed that it's the real deal!

hope its real, looks worn enough

Why would anybody fake such a worn coin. Looks real to me, I've found many Lizzie sixpences, a lot in this condition. If it's a fake why ?.

I'm neither an expert nor a skeptic; but I do appreciate old coins, and that is a great find!
I hope you are able to get back to that site to get some more of those nice old finds

Wow! That is a fantastic find! It's especially great to find things that old here in the US!

Ya know, that's an absolutely stunning find! Whether it proves to be
real or not, it is wonderful!

WTG!

It looks real to me but how thick is it? Is it hammered silver (very thin). Can't tell from the picture. Sure looks like silver and similar to a hammered silver coin from England or Scotland. In any event great find over here!

Definitely a 16th century Lizzie sixpence, and it looks absolutely real to me. These turn up in MD and VA at the earliest sites, and are pretty rare to dig. I was fortunate to find 7 Lizzie sixpences at one site a few years ago mixed in with other hammered coins from the early 1600s, and then dug an 8th a couple of years ago at a different site. Where there's one there could be more so keep hitting that site hard. Super nice find!
