Hello to all!

I got out both days this weekend. It was cold but no rain at least. It was fun to be out there.

My best day was Saturday for keepers at least. I hit a schoolyard early in the morning and finally hit the abandonded golf course that I have been eyeing later in the morning.

At the school I managed a very this white gold ring, kids ring, $4.04 in clad - 43 coins and a few trinkets. Here's the pics of those finds.

Unfortunately, they started scraping and earth moving at the golf course over the past two weeks. I tried to get in there three weekends ago when it was warm but it was too muddy to park so I went else where. Bummer, I really wanted to hit around the clubhouse area and the first and last tees and greens. All that was left was part of the first or tenth tee area so thats where I concentrated and did really well. My best find, a nice 14kt gold ring with a nice star sapphire and diamond chips. Sweet! I also dug a hug sterling ring with a red stone, nice. One sweet surprise a standing liberty quarter. I was juiced digging that. When I saw it in the bottom of the hole, I was smiling for sure. I love those coins and it's been 20 plus years since I found one. It's very worn but I can barely see the date 1923 S. I also got two roosevelt silver dimes and a few wheaties and a bunch of golf markers and divit repairers. It was really muddy treking out and back to that search area but well worth it. I will try to get back there again and see if I can get some more finds. Here's some shots of those finds.

Sundays finds where from two schoolyards. about 4 hours total hunting time.
My best find of the day was a nice 925 ring with a turquoise stone. I also got three sterling earrings and a really pretty butterfly pendant. One other nice find was a lady bug bracelet. It's pretty heavy and looks old but isn't hallmarked. I found a ton of other junk jewelry and a nice pile of clad, $7.57 - 94 coins.
Really cool also was four different foreign coins, two from each school. a $2.00 Canada coin, a one pound England coin, a one peso mexican coin, and a (I think) Greek coin. I also got two Disney elongated pennies, cool!

Thanks for reading and best of luck to you all!
With our crazy cold weather, it was great to be back out there hunting.

Here's some pics of Sunday's finds.

Smiles!

Wow, looks like a neat site. Might want to go back where they scraped the soil and hunt. I bet you will find some really neat stuff there. Good Luck

Wow, looks like two good hauls. ;D It's funny how the jewelry man gets stoked by an old coin and ho hums the rings. I would be the other way around. :D It is cool you can read the date on that SLQ. I found three last year and only one of the three had a date.

Nice Clad pile for Sunday. :)

Great finds there, BDOO. That 23-s is a good one. They go for $300 in Good. HH

Can someone verify a price for me? My book lists the 23S SLQ at $260 in G-4, and it escalates from there. This seems high, but the fact that it has a recognizable date may have something to do with it. Great find!

PS Skierbob noticed the same thing; I should have listened to the red warning about my post!

Awesome finds BDoo!

Thanks RF!! I will definitely get back there this coming weekend. It was a mudtrap getting out to the area I could swing and the scraped areas weren't just scraped of topsoil, most of the area was leveled and plowed to a giant mountain on the back of the property. There were a few holes untouched on the far end of the property, maybe I'll take the trek to those areas. Amazingly, they kept the grass mowed last spring even after it was closed.
