Hello to all!

I got out both days this weekend. It was cold but no rain at least. It was fun to be out there.

My best day was Saturday for keepers at least. I hit a schoolyard early in the morning and finally hit the abandonded golf course that I have been eyeing later in the morning.

At the school I managed a very this white gold ring, kids ring, $4.04 in clad - 43 coins and a few trinkets. Here's the pics of those finds.

Unfortunately, they started scraping and earth moving at the golf course over the past two weeks. I tried to get in there three weekends ago when it was warm but it was too muddy to park so I went else where. Bummer, I really wanted to hit around the clubhouse area and the first and last tees and greens. All that was left was part of the first or tenth tee area so thats where I concentrated and did really well. My best find, a nice 14kt gold ring with a nice star sapphire and diamond chips. Sweet! I also dug a hug sterling ring with a red stone, nice. One sweet surprise a standing liberty quarter. I was juiced digging that. When I saw it in the bottom of the hole, I was smiling for sure. I love those coins and it's been 20 plus years since I found one. It's very worn but I can barely see the date 1923 S. I also got two roosevelt silver dimes and a few wheaties and a bunch of golf markers and divit repairers. It was really muddy treking out and back to that search area but well worth it. I will try to get back there again and see if I can get some more finds. Here's some shots of those finds.

Wow, looks like two good hauls. ;D It's funny how the jewelry man gets stoked by an old coin and ho hums the rings. I would be the other way around. :D It is cool you can read the date on that SLQ. I found three last year and only one of the three had a date.

Nice Clad pile for Sunday. :)

lol, ya, I guess you are right, but the SLQ is one of my faves along with Mercs and Ben F halfs so finding one after so long was a thrill. It was a classic find too, I dug the plug and removed it, and the coin wasn't in it so I ran my knife blade around the perimeter of the inside of the hole, and the coin fell down from the side, bright silver shining in the sun into the bottom of the hole. Schaaawing! I still like the ring with the Star Sapphire the best. It fits me too!
Thanks buddy. Heres another photo of my weekends keepers, 2 gold rings, 2 sterling rings, 3 925 earrings, and the 3 silver coins.

Hiya Rick! After the crap weather we have had the past 3 weeks, any trip out is a good one. I shouldn't complain I guess, because you poor easteners are still getting pounded by winter. Bummer... I had a blast but am still building up the MD'ing muscles. I was pretty sore today. Thanks for the visit my friend!

Can someone verify a price for me? My book lists the 23S SLQ at $260 in G-4, and it escalates from there. This seems high, but the fact that it has a recognizable date may have something to do with it. Great find!

PS Skierbob noticed the same thing; I should have listened to the red warning about my post!

Thanks a lot for the info halfdime and skier Bob too. I didn't realize it was a semi key date, but it's so worn, bummer. Still a really cool find any time huh! Thanks again buds!

Glad you were finally able to get out, Bdoo. Nice digs! And glad you're not hunting in my county LOL -kidding. Keep swinging.

lol, thanks muchly TC!! I know what you mean... after I got my article published in the Feb 07 issue of Western & Eastern Treasures, I felt a bit like that too, giving out all my secrets and all. But for sure, there's plenty of treasure to go around as reading TNet proves every day.

Best of luck to you out there!
