Hello Fellow Tnetters,

I haven't posted in a couple of weeks, but have still been getting out to some of my heavily hunted parks and still finding a good amount of those elusive "deepies". Today was a good day. In just a few hours, I scored 6 silver and about 15 wheaties from an area of a large LA park that I've never hunted before. One of the silvers was a small religious pendant with an angel on it. I wish I could have filmed all the silver digs for you to watch, but my buddy, Jon (goldenapples, film-editor extraordinaire) had to work today. :-\

My 100th silver coin of the year that I found today was just as fulfilling to recover as my 1st silver was some three and a half months ago. I always wonder to myself how many more old coins I can find in these pounded parks, and each time I go, I'm very thankful and excited to continue to hear those 6-9" fluty signals sounding off on my SE.

Thanks for looking. Detect with Passion!!!

HOLY COW!! That's a lot of old coins you're digging! WOOHOOO!!!!! AWESOME!!!!

Man, you rule!

Were these silvers out of reach of other detectors? and the SE is finding them way deep? or do you just have the knack?

nice work!

I JUST HAVE TO TELL YOU ........ YOU ARE A-M-A-Z-I-N-G...... TELL ME, IS IT THE SE OR IS IT YOU ??????? I GOT TO KNOW......PACO

Hey, thanks a bunch everyone for the kind remarks.

Some of you are pretty creative when thinking of new names for me. I think I'm sticking with my original name though.

Paco, I've put a lot of field time in with my SE. The SE has a lot to do with it; so does location. But I will say the more you get to know this machine, the more you will find. Many of my finds are hiding next to trash/iron. They have been elusive to many md'ers over the years, but the SE will find them. YOu just have to know what to listen for when it tells you.

Thanks, Jim!! I wouldn't say these silvers were out of reach from other detectors. Some were very deep, while others were only 3-4". The SE will find very deep coins, but many users will simply swing right over them without even knowing it. I did this when first learning the SE because I didn't know what the machine was telling me. It just sounded like a bunch of squirrly signals to me. Now I know what to listen for. Many silver are hiding next to or right under trash items in the parks I hunt, so you have to pay close attention to the tone. If you hear a repeatable higher conductor tone even while hearing a shallower lower tone, go for it. Many times, I'm digging multiple conductors out of the same hole.

Dan congrats on 100... I have been running my sens. at 24 lately... Our ground here which was extremely soft is already drying out again... I am playing around trying to maintain depth but I already feel like I am not digging as deep... May give the Se a rest...been getting out 4 times a week with it...probably will swing the dfx in a few tot lots for an early spring clean up. You are right though...the Se will also do a good job on the clad....found a park that is loaded up slowly day by day cleaning out the clad...getting a little burn out already..older park for me tomorrow...Will swing Se where I already hunted with dfx...then have the dfx clean up the tot lot... Oh I always enjoy the religious medalions. I had a very small silver one come up with Se a few weeks ago...

Almost ready to start on smartfind...I like the tones set from 8 to 10... seems an area I can easily tell dimes and quarters from cents....
