14 K on Mother's Day!

It was a rare day when it all goes well, street lights, temps, delayed rain, fresh mowed sports field, perfect! :)

On this hunt I decided to collect up those pesky pennies to clear the surface clutter. That little Voice told me to head to the middle.
There were some interesting trash items too, like half a plastic penny right over a zinc in the ground, bent up old spoon, knob, etc. Then I got a jumpy penny/dime reading and the Voice said "you should dig this". I pried up the shallow target, a little silver colored "cheer" megaphone...on a chain. It took some work to free the chain, which has rust on it... not silver. :(
Ten more feet I get a dime/foil reading and the Voice says "Dig That One!" I dig 3" down and in the last scoop of dirt I see a silver edge, and think, "dime"...till the dirt falls off...Sweet! Possible silver ring!

Checking the small ring at home (with my glasses on) I see it is a University class ring, my first! And 14 K White Gold!
An odd thing...the name and initial inside the band is the same as one of the grandkids!
Awesome Mother's Day!

There was a large, deep "quarter" reading I will have to go back for on a rainy day... with a shovel! :D
Late post, my ph data renewed today.
There was a lot more trash I didn't include in the pic.
I will have to get the kids to help me search for the owner.

Congrats on the sweet gold!

Very cool! Gold rings are the best! :treasurechest::thumbsup:

That's awesome! I haven't been out much this year yet, but can't wait to pull a ring of some sort! Nice digs! ;)

A nice surprise on Mothers Day for you . The kids will help you find the owner for sure.

Awesome hunt MsBB. Gotta love it when the voice leads you to treasure. My gut was on holiday this past weekend.

Great hunt msbeepbeep with a Sweet ring!! Bet that made your day when you went from silver to white gold.
Congrats!!

Congrats on a great "first"! Those are the best! You'll notice, there's usually a rather
large pile of pennies in almost all my posts. ;)

As far as the "owner" goes, you gotta do what you feel but I wouldn't be in any hurry.
YOU need to be able to enjoy it, for a while anyway. It already has an owner now, you!

About that lil voice? HE's never wrong! Even if we don't find what we think we should be!
HE still has a reason!

WTG!

Congratulations MSBB on the the gold ring, always a thrill! The slotted buckle thingie is off of a set of football shoulder pads, it holds a securing strap to the "harness" I find these all the time where child teams practice....Sub 8-)

J Cache- Thank you!

Underminer- Thanks! I love finding rings!

Jarl- I hope you get out soon and find lots of rings!

Park Pirate- Thanks! Yep, gold is a favorite find of mine!

AARC- Thank you!

Worldtalker- Thank you Chris! I am way ahead of "me" for a change! Lol!

I kept thinking "It said "foil !" , "dime/foil"!!! I figure the detector readings have more to do with the metals the gold is mixed with. Wonder what pure 24 K reads as, straight "foil" ?? Be nice to find out !!! :D

Thrirty76now- it sure was a pleasant surprise! It's Tuesday, and I'm still smiling!
The kids better help me! I'm as e-challenged as they come!

Thanks Casper!

Loco- Thank you! I can be kinda stuborn sometimes, you would laugh if you heard some of the back and forth over why I need to go to a certain spot...
Voice-"Go over by the blue plastic cap."
Me-"But that's trash!"
Voice- "JUST GO!!!"

I'm surprised a lighting bolt hasn't been used as a cattle prod...yet!

Thanks Trapperat!

Deershed- I thought it was at lest silver for sure. I was blown away to find out it's white gold! It's the first white gold ring I've found. Thanks!

WIF- Thank you! I am slowly clearing the modern stuff. This is the same field I found the musket ball & silver dime in. It also holds a lot of trash, both modern & older. I know there's more good stuff, if the M6 can ferret it out...like rings!
There a couple of "quarter" hits I want to check, but I'd need a shovel & invisiability.:D.
I am enjoying the ring, but I have to at lest try to return it. Like you said there's no hurry, it was 3" deep so it's been lost for a few years, and the owner would be about 35.

For sure, I'm getting better at listening to Him.

ATW- Thanks! It's OK, usually the voice I hear is me, mumbling to myself, and I don't have bluetooth!
If the back and forth conversation was ever overheard...let's just say, I'd get some very strange looks and probably a free ride to somewhere I don't want to go!
Some things are better left "unsaid" :D

Sub- Thank you! I find a lot of those buckles too, now I know what exactly they are, thanks. Now I just need to find a useful purpose for them all. :sly: Kinda makes ya feel like a detective trying to figure out what all the little pieces are, but it's fun!

Thanks Skippy! It was an AWESOME day!!!

Congrats on the gold ring :icon_thumright:

Any initials on it? It may be difficult returning with around 4-5k per graduating class, but good luck!

The owner would be stoked to get it back...

Yes there is the full name inside the ring, so as long as I can locate this person, now it should be petty much a slam dunk return! :)

Really nice find there Ms Beep.
They have some weight to them too !
Congrats to you, you deserve a nice find like that.

I really liked the story, but I loved the ring! Congrats to you. Looks like a very nice ring.
