It's been an interesting couple of weeks for me. I got done at my job and have been scrambling to buy a lot of new tools and get to work for myself as soon as possible. A little stressful when you're spending thousands of $ and the future is uncertain. Luckily I got hooked up with a great job doing some really ornate interior trim. So things are starting off great. But after all of the stress I really wanted to get out for a few hours. Last Sunday I hiked out to an old bridge site. This morning I hiked down river to try to locate a mill site that was built by the same guy that built the bridge. It took me a long time but eventually I saw an old well. Then I looked at the river and realized it would have been an ideal place for a mill. I hunted around the well and wound up with 10 early buttons and a copper from an area about 8'by8'. I knew. That this guys house was somewhere downstream from the mill and wanted to go see if i could locate it. I wound up hitting an iron patch about 1 mile from the mill and found 3 pewter buttons and a nice early pewter spoon. Rat tail I believe is the correct id. When I have more time I believe these 2 sites are going to be awesome. The finds are early and the iron patches are quite large. The copper I believe will prove to be a DB, maybe a Lib Cap lol....yeah right. Two of these buttons are really nice. I've been lucky to find some nice ones recently.
I will post pic of the coin when it's all cleaned up. Thanks for looking guys and best of luck out there. image.jpg

Thank you for sharing your hunt and those pictures with us

Very nice buttons and that LC looks like it will clean up, congrats.

So the coin looks to be a 1797. That matches my oldest. I'll find that chain or Lib Cap some day. Maybe at this site

That's a nice one , def, on of my dream finds .
If I dug that coin ,I likely would scrub my fingers off trying to clean it , heck I waste my time doing that with 1940's Wheats
Well .. Not that much anymore ..

Great Finds & Great Site

Also Ill bet U can build some nice display cases.

Davers

Those are some great finds. Keep doing what you're doing because it's working!

Thank you guys I'm excited about this spot. I'm convinced there's an early american silver out there somewhere. Really wanting to find a capped bust or dare I say maybe a Heraldic :-) A guy can dream can't he lol

Davers I really need to make some nice custom displays. I've got access to some amazing exotic woods. I'm dying to put all of my shoe buckles in a display case

Great stuff as usual, Abe! Can't wait to see what else you're able to find there. Keep up the good work man!
