I was up with a few friends to what used to be a hot spot, but we have hit it now pretty good over the last few years, and the farmer now only deep discs, so finds are getting harder to get. This one spot has the ground disturbed from the tractor, so I decided to go over and run the Deus 2 over it. I got one signal jumping between 47 and 52 on the side of one of the furrows. And lookie who pops out! It was maybe 4" deep, but on its side. This is the first one like this I have ever found, or so I thought then remembered one from awhile ago, after being reminded. For some reason I remembered the other one as a liberty head. Getting old isn't fun. I also found a lot of minie balls and the iron was everywhere! I haven't cleaned it yet.

I also lost an 18th century brass covered traveling ink bottle I dug in the mid 1980's. I moved my furniture for flooring two years ago and haven't seen it since. Tell all my heirs and assigns the stuff is here SOMEWHERE. I had to ask a nice policeman if it was still Friday. Really. He laughed. I was down at the beach and dug some stuff for an hour and quit.

Awesome find! Is that a crown or feather headress?

My coin is so tiny, so I found the internet - duh- and my magnifier - duh- it's called an "Indian Princess" type 3, and looks like a feathered "crown" or headress. A guy named Longacre designed and I think he designed the Indian head cent also.

I can't remember squat anymore. I think my other one I gave to my daughter, but I can't find it here. Also the $5 US is still missing. Or at this point maybe stolen.
Hopefully you just put somewhere and forgot. I misplaced my gold coin for nearly 5 yrs.
Usually kept it in my treasure chest, then when time to look at it again it wasn't there.
Finally found it with some other finds that were in storage this winter.
Hated that darned nagging thought that was in the mind though.
Congrats again on the gold coin

I have idea where I stuck a $5 gold coin IN A FLIP! I may have given it to my daughter, like I can what day is it? And I temporarily lost my British Gold Guinea, I had taken it out of the safe and "stuck" it nearby. But I found it.
