My girlfriend Shellie and I went on an all day paddling trip in the canoe. We went up the Scioto River to the confluence of the Big Walnut Creek and the Scioto River and then paddled the Big Walnut. My girlfriend is a collector also,I got her hunting last year and she has been hooked since. She doesnt hunt nearly as often as I do but when she does go with me she usually finds something great.tn mts will appreciate this post.lol.This was her first time creek hunting after much convincing on my part(she is worried about snakes)lol. Anyways, she found the killer blade(measures 3 3/4 inches long) on a huge gravel bar rite at where the Big Walnut dumps into the Scioto. After she found it she ran to the canoe to get her phone to take an insitu and on her way back(maybe a hundred feet)she finds a broken celt and it would have been a killer piece if not broke, but still a nice find.I am saying under my breath" you got to be kidding me!!!"I didnt find anything all day!So yes my GF schooled me.I have some ideas on the blade but will comment after I hear some opinions.Hope you enjoy the picks of our floatin trip.

Super find no matter the type. I used to canoe Big Walnut all the time as a kid in the 60's. Back then I never thought about looking for points as the small mouth bass fishing was off the chain. I doubt it is as good as it once was. Thanks for the great memories! :icon_thumright:

I should have just brought my rods and let the princess hunt relics seeing how i didnt find anything.lol.shelli thx you.

Super find. What do you think that Cobbs blade is made of? Ridge, Boyles? The reason I ask is I have a point made of that exact material.

I think it is made of carter cave.Would like to see that point sometime when you have the time.Shellie says thx.

Hey Greg,
I'm glad to hear the fishing is still good! I used to fish BW in a lot of places with an old alum. canoe of my brothers. We would camp and fish for catfish at nite too. Great fun! My favorite lure was a yellow shyster with black dots.
We would put in at 665 or farther up and fish/swim all day. The Scioto back then was so polluted you didn't fish or swim it, but I know now it is much better. Keep the pics coming, someday I hope to get up there again.
Thanks.

I have heard you can put a trolling motor on a canoe and not have to take anyone to help you paddle? No Lithic princess just man and gravel bars. Lol. Man they sure slay us everythime. I am beginning to think that is ok though.

What a great looking water trip. The color of that point is like a copperhead the way it blends in. Great canoe Great trip. How much is missing on the celt
?
Tell Shellie congratulations on her finds. Obviously we know who rocks. Shellie-Rocks !! :headbang:
What a fun looking day.

That is how I run my Canoe. I put a 30lb thrust trolling motor on her and she leaves quite a wake. Of course here in Virginia, I had to register the canoe because once you motorize it..... its the law.

Congrats to her on the awesome finds!!! You really know how to have a great day and I love the photos. well done.

Thats really cool you used to run around this area.We put in at 762 and paddled up to the BW.I am going to put in at 762 again this weekend and float down to circleville.going to camp one nite on the river somewhere I cant wait.probably be bymyself,so it will be just man and gravel bars.hope to have some more relics to show sunday nite.

Mom used to drop off a bunch of us where Deer Creek crosses 104. We would float down to where it met the Scioto and camp all weekend. It was great. I can't imagine a bunch of kids doing something like that today!
