1920's Sterling Silver Mirror and Chainmail Bag
Another dump find, this time some 1920's stuff. Found this amongst household junk someone tossed. There were some other old things like combs and books but they were all broken and must have been outside in the elements for quite some time...
I don't usually post my detector finds because they're mostly clad and junk but this I thought was a little bit interesting. It's definitely an old oven gas valve, but it has a swastika on it. It looks to be from the same time period that the Nazis would have existed. Could this be a Nazi...
I found these iron relics in two different nearby streams. Both streams are next to railroads, and both had Civil War troop movement in the area. The backs appear no different than what is show in the image.
Thanks in advance!
I found this broken steel (I think) statue in a dry creek bed yesterday. It's in bad shape but a cool piece. I want to find a picture of something similar, but have had no luck. Any help is appreciated!
I found this item over ten years ago. I found it when I was 13 years old with my first metal detector. The house I found it at has a lot of history including that it was built by a man who fought in the Civil War. The house is near Pittsburgh. I never found out what it was and it has just been...
I found this on my second outing with my AT Pro I just bought. I thought it was scrap when i first pulled it out, but after cleaning it today I realized it was made of copper and looks to be old. I found it at an old home site next to a lake in PA. It has a decorative edge and on the sides has...
Metal Detecting Find @ 1800's railroad prostitute house/General Store
Could someone help me identify this? I was metal detecting on an old railroad whore house and General store from the 1800's and found this bad boy 4 inches under the front entry. Have no idea what it is! Maybe a badge of some...
I picked up a set of Civil War artifacts at a garage sale and these boots were a part of it. I couldn't seem to find any information online about them so I thought I would try here.
They seem to be made of ceramic or clay. They have no visible identifying markings on them.
Ok I saw a post recently I could not find today, maybe really old IDK. But anyway a guy had this on there thinking it was some sort of possible shotgun shell. Here is that exact same type of item that I found. I do believe it to be a lipstick holder. It is brass and about 2 5/8 inches long and...
This is a coin I detected on a river bank , not sure what it is the other side of the coin has the same wreath wrapping around the coin, but that is all you can make out. The visible side which you see in the pic is all I've got on this one. Does anyone think this may be colonial ??? Appears to...

When metal detecting I always take any trash I find with me. Trash in our countries wild places is an ugly contamination of the natural beauty that other come to these places to experience. The areas I have detected in do not allow the removal of (artifacts) from the ground. So at what point...
Well when i was a kid behind my dads house was a corn field then woods. At the beginning of this wood line was an old dump and we would dig for bottles and just milk jugs and coke bottles and what nots, but now that I am older and realize there is value with some of the stuff we found I am not...
This is my first post and first relic find. I just started with my garrett ace 350 to get started and i love everything about metal detecting. I have searched several places and really cant pinpoint what i have here. I think it is a "great seal" button but i cannot find a date. Also there are...
Hi
I've been at this for about 6 months now so I still have a lot to learn. I recently worked a beach right after the storm a few days before Thanksgiving. There is one of the 1715 fleet wrecks located about 700 yards out from where I was detecting. I didn't find any silver or gold but I did...
i found this in an old ghost town from the mid 1800,s in new mexico ... i was walking around in one of the buildings and i put my hands on top of one of them cross beam things that held the roof together and i heard i big clunk as some thing fell to the floor so i looked around for what made the...
Okay, just how does a novice tell the difference between a piece of junk wire and a piece of wire off of a friction primer? I saw a post elsewhere and it got me thinking of a piece of wire I found over a year ago that I still have kicking around.
I kept it because of what it was found near. I...

I was in a old school built in the '40s and the field had been hit by metal detectors hard. In the field I got no good signals. I normally do not dig zinc signals but I really had really good feeling about this one. I figured "What the heck, i'll dig it" Then at 6" the object was out of the...

I am new to MD'ing and to the Northshore. I've found some places to detect but would love a knowledgeable partner on some of my hunts. I could use some tips and some of the places are just too big for one person to detect efficiently. Hope to hear from u soon!
