I found several great things today in SW Wisconsin, including the 10k gold class ring from 1931. I got the 1942 Mercury dime and the 1919S wheat penny from the same corner of the yard. The bird tag with a leg bone still inside was probably my strangest find so far. There's also a Palmolive token...
I've been at the metal detecting for about a year now. On Monday I got my first silver quarter (1941) and on Tuesday I got my first Tootsie toy. Pretty excited about both.

Got permission for an Indiana farm, and after finding the Indian Head penny (my only old coin on the day), I was super excited to find my largest shell casing, a Remington Arms .50 cal (likely a Korean War souvenir, right?), and my coolest Hot Wheels yet, a 1967 green Deora. If youāve never seen...
REVERSE
OBVERSE
I found this today, and Iām showing the reverse side first, because thatās where I can see the āRICAā at about 4:00-5:00 and hints at the wreath. The obverse has nothing to show.
Itās been holed, And thereās rust coming through. The corrosion is topical and rusty, so I wonder...

Hey, Everyone!
I've just compiled my list of notable finds from the Midwest during October (mostly Wisconsin with some Minnesota thrown in for good measure). Several old coins but lots of relics (a few of which I posted in "Today's Finds" here).
I can't copy-paste the format with all the...
While checking out a possible homesteading site we weren't finding much. Best relic was a copper oil lantern lid/wick adjuster jobby. Rest was junk from back country parties and fisherfolk.
So, disheartened, I was kickin stones on the way back to the car when I spotted that unmistakable...
I figured I post some of the display cases that I have put together in the past few months. These are all from different sites from across the Western Territories.
I am moving away from the Riker cases as I find they take up too much room and are rather boring to look at.
I just changed my...
Iāve found my share of Hot Wheels this summer, but this is my first older toy, and Iām really excited to have dig it with my daughter. Found it in a city park which apparently has never been searched before, so Iām definitely going back tomorrowādespite the snow flurries!
I found a match to...
As someone who is new to the world of metal detecting, I have found a wealth of resources on youtube pertaining to this pursuit. By example, I am learning technique, the standard tool-kit, legality, etiquette, best practices and ethics.
So far, my favourite American Channel is that of 'The...
Things will be getting colder up here in northern Wisconsin, so I've taken some time to post my most interesting finds from the summer. I can't really copy-paste the format from my blog where I posted it originally, so if you're interested in seeing some of my coins (oldest: and 1864 Indian...
Found this pin while metal detecting in a yard with early 1900s artifacts. Lots of Norwegians and Swedes up here in these parts, but I canāt match the shape to anything there, even counties.
Any idea of what nation this might be? Perhaps even a specific country or island in Scandinavia?
From the pictures you can see some of the designs and with this little piece excites me. Talk about fancy! It came from the ground green, so itās likely copper (or mostly so). On this property Iāve also found two WWI-era buttons and two pennies from 1887 and 1914, as well as a whole lot of...
I googled the type on the back of this button to no avail. Any idea as to era? Iām thinking WWII, but I found a WWI military button in the same area of Wisconsin woods just yesterday.
