Found this rock today here in California. Not sure if fossils occur on rocks like this.
Showed a few people and they said it looks like a drawing almost.
So, is it a fossil? Or perhaps native American art?
Went camping over the weekend and had the most unfortunate weather… that is unless you’re an amateur paleontologist! As wind, rain and lighting smashed the top of the mountain I was on, it exposed hundreds of these sea shell fossils. An interesting reminder of the dynamic shift that God put...
I need help identifying what these are (if they are fossils at all). Last 3 specimens are purchased fossils(last 3 Photos), The other 8 specimens were found on a Connecticut beach.
This is my first post, so i'll try to keep everything short and sweet. I live in crawford co arkansas, and figured I'd go out on my grand parents land today and do a few sweeps as it's right off the Ozarks. Anyways while detecting a creek I came across this rock. Something I've never seen...
Found this item a few years ago down the road a piece, over the creek bed, hiding in plain sight. Have had lots of fun with it including taking photos, writing a song about it and making a youtube video.:laughing7: Rather than me posting a link, look up StoneMan Mystery 2 on the youtube site...
What type of fossil is this? [SOLVED]
A family member gave me this fossil a few years ago. I believe they said they found it on their property in Arkansas. Can anybody tell me what type of fossil this is, how old it is, and what it may be worth?
What animal's bone is this?
I found this bone today, i am not too sure what part of the body it might of been, i found it in England, Hunstanton on the beach sand. As seen in the pictures it is only 4-5 cm wide. As it was on the beach i think it might be a fish or a bird but please tell me what...
Hi there:)
I need a little bit of help with this one :)
I think it might be fossil of brachiopod, but not sure for 100%, any suggestions?
Location-Scotland
:) Thanks
Found this in south central Iowa near Lamoni on a dirt trail.
It is translucent, seems to be stone, and has a "tiger eye" fracture from top to bottom that refracts light shined through it.
The quarter is for size comparison.
Any thoughts as to what this is would be greatly appreciated.
Hallo!
Over the years, I have found lots and lots of these (see photos below) in the creek bed on our estate in eastern Kentucky. I think they're from the Sigillaria Tree from the Carbondale Formation and just wondered if anyone could verify this and maybe give some more information.
Thanks...
