Found this on a Florida Beach.
I am new to the fossil world. I Found this yesterday while metal detecting a Florida Treasure Coast beach. I think I know the basic answer, but always value more knowledgeable information. Thanks
I jumped a wall to an old mine and what i saw it's so interesting, mosasaure teeths and bones, some weird teeths and a lot of shark teeths and many many other corals, bones and shells but i couldn't reach them because they put some security agents there.

I was out searching a river today in Oklahoma looking for bottles, fossils, artifacts, etc and I came across this little thing. Does anyone know what it is? Feels like stone and has decent weight like stone. Not sure if it's native or if it's a sliver of a crinoid or something else. I've...
I recently returned from a few months of working on a farm in Idaho. I’m going through all my finds I stumbled upon in the desert and mountains..going to post the mystery rocks/objects the next few days but I’ll start with just the simple stuff. Any info/opinion is welcome !
This rock is heavy...
Hi! So I've been finding these really cool and colorful rocks in eastern WY that are unlike anything I've seen before. Has anyone else? There are obvious fossils in what I think is a form of chalcedony (jasper?) but then there are also these little clear crystal agate pockets. The fossils look...
I found this beautiful specimen on the banks of the York in Virginia! I’ve only been doing this for a little over a year and I’ve found a lot of shark teeth and fossils. BUT, this is definitely my favorite find so far. I’ll be back out there fossil hunting tomorrow!
Scientists have extracted liquid blood from a 42,000-year-old foal that was discovered in Siberian permafrost. The team hope they could collect viable cells that can be used to clone this extinct species of horse.
Permafrost preserved the ‘oldest blood in the world’ boosting hopes of bringing...
My friend brought what appears to be a foot or a claw of some kind. I would like to get other opinions please. He found it in Llano County, TX. On the top, you can see what looks like fingers on a claw. On the front, you can see where the fingers came down to a point. On the bottom, it looks...
Help identify this rock?
Hello everyone, a contractor had seen this rock in my yard and told me it might be very valuable and collectible, i have a second similar one, could anyone tell me what it is or if it might actually have any value?
Thanks everyone!
Found this tooth out hiking in the deserts of Western Texas near Big Bend National Park not in the park, no thanks on the whole federal law breaking thing. Find lots of aquatic fossils out here, oyster shells, ammonites, etc... I know this is probably a sharks tooth but I was wondering if anyone...
I'm not sure if I should bother with a long detailed story so I'll try to keep it short.
After getting my two little ones on the school bus and having to take my oldest oldest to get a cast for a broken ankle I headed out without a plan and just felt the need to stop at a place I had had some...
Hi everyone.
Newbie here in need of assistance. I know nothing about this kind of stuff and my hobby lies more towards treasure hunting. With that said me and my girlfriend stumbled on this neat find on my great grandparents land in central WV.
Measuring 7 inches in length and 5 inches at the...
found what looks like a small cardinal with bright red coloration and bright orange beak with the black features on the face and mohawk typical to most american cardinals. not sure if it is a fossil or some kind of indian art.
found a bunch of these neat green, red, orange, and dark blue stones and noticed what looks like two little bird like people tucked together with the smaller one wrapped at the waist of the larger of the kin i would presume. Any ideas about what on gods green earth can explain this not so far...
Some curious stones and what looks like a large fossilized arm or leg bone I found hunting over the weekend. The fragment that is layered similar to bone is extremely heavy and 6-8 on long by a. Diameter of 1-2 in ( varying in places).
Trying to help a friend find out about this item. It was found in a river in Florida. It is about one foot long and about 2 inches in circumference. It was originally one piece but was broken when getting out of the ground. Any ideas as to what this is would be greatly appreciated.
Hello guys,

My best friend, Jake, is moving in just over a week and we go fossil hunting every couple of months. Me and my dad and him did it one last time today. We arrived at Westmoreland state park and headed down to fossil beach. We had a great time and a good haul! Mine included a dolphin vert, lots of...
I dug this heavy little piece and several other nice bones out of a dark orange clay bank (modeling clay). I think that is why this piece and the other bones is well preserved?
This piece is 1.75 and .25 thick, the back is concave. It weighs 16g.
Is this a Chunk-o-saurus or maybe a...
I found this at the beach today and I can't figure out if it used to be part of something, is a fossil, or is just a uniquely shaped rock!
It has a smooth curve, and the backside has a bit of a lip or ledge on it.
Any guesses? Thanks!
Ok this was found in the Gasconade river in Missouri. A few other hunters have told me that they think I'm on the right track with fossilized carved bone but we aren't sure. I have found several points and tools in the past but never anything like this. Thanks for any input.
I'm having trouble remembering where this came from. I have to refer to my notes but I thought i'd see if anyone recognized what it could be in the short term.
Thank you very much, any help is appreciated!
