Looking for anyone who has hunted Civil War locations in the 70’s, 80’ & 90’s in Dekalb county, Georgia that might wish to share locations and help me out. I am looking for Civil War camp sites, river or stream crossing or skirmishes that happened in Dekalb county in Metro Atlanta, Georgia.

60 bottles recovered from a permission at the battle of franklin. My girlfriend and I found a civil war era trash pit in the back field of a 1800s home while metal detecting for civil war relics. We were hot on the trail of bullets and other items when we were overloaded with iron tones. We...
Civil war gun parts found on the historic battle field of Franklin Tennessee. My girlfriend and I dug these at a permission located on the front lines of the battlefield. We were bombarded with iron tones and decided to start digging. We started hitting sold charcoal and instantly knew we found...
Not a bad short hunt, proving there's always finds left doesn't matter how many times you hit as place... Third hunt with the equinox 800
After retiring the at pro... Great machine!!!
Any opinions on the buttons age would be great, found in the civil war area?
Found a bucket lister today at an abandoned home site, located on the front lines of the battle of franklin! The home sits directly on the center line where the union and confederates met. It rang up a 65-75 ( The iron back made it sound scratchy/ undesirable) I wasn’t going to dig it, but I’m...
Hi Everyone,
My name is Nick, and I am currently Active Duty Air Force stationed in Jacksonville, FL. I will be PCSing to Savannah, Georgia in a couple of weeks and am looking to get involved with the relic-hunting community there.
I have been swingin' an old White's Blue & Gray since I was...
Hunting a field in southern Ohio, I dug this very old brass tube (approximately the length and diameter of my pinky finger.) When I returned home, I took a chopstick to try and clean out the dirt on the inside of the tube and instead, a piece of wood or rolled up paper of some kind popped out...
I need some advice on different places to hunt civil war relics in Atlanta. I found one post of a guy who moved to virginia and had 20 years experience hunting civil war relics in Atlanta. he recently posted some images of a VMI box plate. I misplaced his user ID. So I am thinking there are more...
This is all I could muster up today on an abbreviated hunt due to all the activities at church. I think the bullet is Civil War, but the ring thingy appears to be much newer......or not. Any ideas as to what it is? It's brass and has what appears to be graduated threads or two sets of...
Can anyone provided some Equinox TID numbers on various Civil War Relics you have found? Also the depths that you recovered them from?
I am starting to hunt Civil War battle and camp ground sites here in Georgia.
Much appreciated.
Trying to find Civil War relics for my nephew, and came across this listing on eBay, which is purportedly a tent stake dug from the Antietam battlefield.
I have a few concerns, not the least of which is that Antietam is misspelled on the tag and the listing. I know most CW tent stakes were...
Me and my dad got out yesterday to one of our first hunting grounds next to an old Sugar mill, testing the AT pro in zero mode. Did not expect to find this after aluminum can after aluminum can...
What are the chances it still has fabric on it, or is that part of the bullet such as wrapping...
I found an axe head on a plot of land that was given to an ex slave family by their master shortly after the Civil War ended. The plot of land was about 100 acres and the family expanded all the way until the 1990s where they sold all of the land. The dimensions of the axe head are 7 7/16 inches...
So I have this Cannonball in my possession. It’s 48.8 lbs and 8-10 inches in diameter. It has a hole on one side where somebody shoved a marble in it. Not sure if it has black powder in it or not. Anybody have any guesses at it’s worth or potential origins? I live in North Texas but it was not...
Hey guys and girls! My team(mom, dad, self lol) have been hitting our civil war bushwacker spot as often as we can. We've pulled lots of fired and dropped bullets, buttons and other relics. My dad took one of his bullets to work and was showing his crew. One guy struck up a conversation with him...
I was metal detecting on an old property, multiple silver coins came out of it and a 1847 large cent and I found this piece of lead. Ive never found a civil war bullet and would like to know if this is possibly my first. It seems like the right shape, size, and weight, but it looks like somebody...
I'll be visiting Hendersonville N.C. this week to do some digging with my son who recently moved there. I'm not asking for anyone's "secret spots", but if someone could give me some suggestions of where I might go I'd really appreciate it. I plan on donating any area specific relics to the local...
Hello
I just found another button at my current dig location. I think it is Civil War era. “ Extra Treble Stand”. Is what I think it says on the back. It is magnetic. So not silver, gold or copper.
Does anyone know what time period This would be from?
After two years of trying to buy or trade for this bayonet, out of the blue he just gave it to me. So I'm stoked and glad to add it to my collection.
Now the question is; Is it real, or is it a reproduction?
It has some surface rust so I rubbed it down with WD40 in case you were curious about...
Hello my friends . Hope everyone had a bless day . I guess you could say this is just a game on my part . I KNOW WHAT IT IS ! I just want to see how many number of people guess it right . Then I will take off the paper I put on the front and let everyone know . Hope no one minds me doing this...
Hoping you guys can help me out. Is there an online resource that lists all of the pieces and parts of the equipment and uniforms issued to soldiers during the Civil war with reference photos?
Or even a book with reference photos that could be used to identify relics that you find?
What do you...
:BangHead:This was found at the Averasboro Battlefield here in NC YEARS ago . It was private land back then , but know is state owned . It has R.R. Faison's on it . Has some detail on it also . As far as the back , well can't really see anything . Anybody got a clue ?
I do NOT think it is a bullet mold because it does NOT close up flat . It is blacksmith made and is very old . It has a name on side but can't read it . It is 15 inches long . Inside top is half round on both sides as you can see . I seen a picture of a tool that a doctor would use to remove...
Hi everyone! I recently picked up this mechanical pencil that I believe to be from the civil war era. It is a slide pencil, has a screwable jewel top, and the name "Ezra C. Dean" engraved on it. The mechanical mechanism slides in and out, the jewel top comes off, and the hook loop on it also...
Found some melted metal/lead and buckles with some old pins. Also some black chalk looking stuff possibly gun powder? Found near Okolona, Ms in Egypt, Ms by metal detecting a cow pasture. Hopefully much more to come! Confederate sword was found in same pasture. Hope there is more to come from...
I didn't have much time to hunt so I went to a place where I had found a few bullets a while back. I decided to hunt a field I had largely avoided so as not to disturb the property owners cattle. After wandering around aimlessly for about an hour not hearing much beyond the occasional nail I...
Really good day today. Buckle from a known Civil War site. Can anyone please identify use? Back says “solid brass”. Would this be Union?
Not suggesting it IS Civil War, but it was found on a site that had a known occupation and was also occupied for years afterward.
I have found so me places that are not owned by the US government and can be hunted west of Kennesaw mountain.
anyone have had any luck in these areas west of Kennesaw mt? eg Gilgal church, lost mountain, old site of now destroyed new salem church? plenty of CW action in these areas outside the...
Had a gorgeous day to hunt here in central VA.
I was only able to turn up one lone bullet, a .54 cal Burnside, along with a ton of ferrous material (need I.D. on some, check 'What Is It' if you're interested). All-in-all still a great day to be in the field.
