Hi all !
Got out for a couple hours today and went to a Jr high school not far from home. Been there a couple times before. Pulled two silver rings from there all ready. Today i found $4.31 in clad and this little beauty.

No marks but since it had a nice Amethyst i checked it.

Top test scratch is 14k on the left 18k on the right. The bottom test scratch is 10k. The picture was taken almost five minutes after applying the acid. No tarnish , no flaking , no discoloration through a jewelers loupe.
Hmmmmmm , looks like 14k to me !

Edit;
Here's another test. Same as before, top , 14k on left 18k on right , 10k on the bottom.

Sorry about poor picture quality.

Have you looked under magnification at the post? They can marked there, but it's very small and hard to see with the naked eye.

Thanks !!!
Broke out the jewelers loupe and gave the post a good look . Marked 14k with a small hallmark ! Hallmark is a heart with something in the middle.
Post lock is marked Italy , 925. Had to give it a good scrubbing to see it.

Yeah that post back could be a replacement. The original was most likely 14k gold also, still ya found something made of gold.

Glad you found the mark on the post. Tamrock beat me to it. I have found a fair number of post earrings and that is the first place I look to see if it is silver or gold. It seems to be the most common place to mark small earrings.

Nice find especially with a nice stone instead of a cz. Keep swingin.
