Buttons, a Bayonet & 15 crusty coppers!

As we try to do, we dug plenty, but "I" didn't get over anything too great. The bayonet isn't quite all there but it's a first so is cool. I always like a early seals, they popped up out of nowhere, did not expect them where we were as almost everything was 1800s. Too bad the coins are brutal condition but it was fun finding them. The 1813 Trade & Navigation will be very nice once cleaned. The second last coin is a Sheffield Penny Token. The last I'm guessing an early 1800s Reis but I haven't tried to match it yet. Others are a George III Hibernia, 1830 Halfpenny token, another Trade & Navigation, George II Farthing, Halifax Halfpenny, 1812 Halfpenny, stamped Halfpenny (I) ... and a few more all not worth showing closer.

Next hunt is early next week, hope the weather hangs on!

I'd take a cannonball any day of the week!

Re: Buttons, a Bayonet & 15 crusty coppers!

yeah those are some toasty tokens for sure, but I like the Sheffield, never seen that before!

and like I said, the bayonet would do me fine anyday, oh well, I think we got away like bandits getting that site and scoring a few keepers along the way!! Just need some of that mojo working for us next week too!

Yeah the Sheffield isn't one we'd see often. I had a non-found one before so had a good idea what it was.

Definitely no complaints for the amout of digging we did! Been a long time since I got to got to hear that many coppers sound off in a day.

Re: Buttons, a Bayonet & 15 crusty coppers!

You heard that sweet tone more than usual today, so Im sure no complaints from you on this hunt. Congrats on the bayonet, maybe not complete but close enough. Another nice lead seal, and good going on the KGII Farthing, maybe we can find them more often than not, heck I have a grand total on One KGI farthing to counter all the other KG Halfpence.... :dontknow:

Re: Buttons, a Bayonet & 15 crusty coppers!

congrats on a awesome hunt! I would love to dig that many coppers in a year no matter what the condition.

Iron Patch, really nice finds! I'd be excited about the bayonet, let alone all the rest! :icon_thumleft: :hello2: :notworthy:

Yeah the bayonet is about as good as one could probably hope for being beat around by the plow. I really like the early seals and it is the one thing I've done well on this year. As for Georgie Farthings I have quite a few but most are where this latest one is going... The crusty box!

Re: Buttons, a Bayonet & 15 crusty coppers!

Hey IP that bayonet is a kick butt find ! I always wanted to find one but .... big sigh :sad5: it never happened.

Congrats on awesome iron !

Derek

yeah not too many sites are spitting out a whack of coppers too much, I ended the day with 7..respectable

Re: Buttons, a Bayonet & 15 crusty coppers!

Looks like you're back in the *swing* of things. ;D What's the copper total now?

I got out for a bit today too, and man was it cold.

Finds post coming in a bit...

P.S.--did you find any Tiffin Tokens today?

Think I had one toasty Tiffin!

I don't count coppers anymore because our numbers pale in comparison to what we used to dig. (between 250-300 on a good year, that's all large no matter what they were)

One of those Rare Tiffins, eh? :D

Well, normal years in KY I would be thrilled to find 5 coppers in a year. Last year I got 8, and this year my goal is 20. I don't know of any other KY hunters that find 20 coppers in a year.

I was hoping for a good relic today, but didn't quite find the spot I was hunting for. Stumbled on a little something else though.
