Cool (but broken) Masonic Seal Ring (ID'ed)

The title about sums it up. Did a quick hunt on a couple fields I've hit for many years and only dug maybe a dozen targets, but was all I needed to get something interesting. Seal ring is cool, just too bad it's broken. Curious if anyone can tell me something about it. The letters appear to be H H.

Re: Few Targets... But didn't need many - Button and Cool (but broken) Seal Ring

looks mason related...

Re: Few Targets... But didn't need many - Button and Cool (but broken) Seal Ring

We thought that too, I just did some quick research and a family member was a mason.

Re: Few Targets... But didn't need many - Button and Cool (but broken) Seal Ring

The design may be farming related. A pick and syth crossed, with what looks like some sort of bird coup on a pole vertical centre. Also what could be corn bottom right.

With a family member being a Mason, the stars of David, and the sybols... all that's left to figure out is the HH. The last initial of the family is an H, but the person who was the Mason was named Charles. Maybe there is another, might check this winter.

Claddy made the trip. He was pretty hurtin so we didn't stay long. It was pretty quiet for the most part but obviously still a few keepers to be had.

Keep me informed on the ETA.

The find looks poss. 17th century to me. Stars were used a lot with letters at that time, trade tokens being a good example.

Here's an example. I could still be wrong (usualy am) but it looks more like a merchant/farmers ring to me.(late 17th/early 18th Century). HH Robert.

Every find for the most part has been late 1700s/early 1800s. The settler was born in the 1730s and landed in 1786. If it was his it could possibly be mid. 18th century I guess. (unless it was old when he got it)

Seventeenth Century Tokens of the British Isles and their values by Michael Dickinson.

Re: Few Targets... But didn't need many - Button and Cool (but broken) Seal Ring

I would think the HH would be obvious to everyone here.
Ihe man who lost the ring was obviously a seer of sorts and, seeing that you would find the ring, was merely wishing you happy hunting. :icon_jokercolor:

Okay, I have no clue, but it sounded good.
