Hi Guys,
I found this old clip. I'm not sure if its suspenders or garter. Notice the design has a "V", Fleur de Le, "G". Any ideas as to what time period and what kind would be greatly appreciated.

My hunch on this one is sometime in the first half of the 20th c.

Cheers,

Buck

The one on the bottom right corner, how much is that worth possibly? And would you happen to know the date of it?

Take a look at this. It was found at a Union camp site in Ga. Appears to be from Engineering division. Crossed oars and anchor with chain.SUSPENDER BUCKLE.png

Hello! No suspender clips were issued to troops that I know of. So this is a civilian item which may have been purchased by a soldier because of the design which appealed to them (or their branch of service).

I found these two yesterday at a colonial site in Connecticut. This site yielded coins and relics from the 1600's to the mid 1800's. I love the intricate designs on these ordinary, mundane, everyday items.

Right on the top of my list of favorite relics to dig, along with Large Cents,Old Silver and flat buttons, are suspender clips. Such a personal item compared to coins, they always give me a special feeling of "time travel" :D
Would love to see some more examples of these if you-all get a chance, thanks and HH!!!!

8/2/2018 I've dug a few suspender clips and pieces since starting this thread six years ago, including another match. Suspender clip on top left is from the original post and the clip next to it is a match I just dug from the same site recently. Thanks to everyone who have added pics from their collections!!

Amazing finds and display
