Your most memorable day metal detecting of 2017? Can you single one out? I really couldn't as far as recoveries goes, however, I do recall the day and event when I finally came to understand just how to use the threshold to it's fullest potential. So for me that was my best day of 2017 as it lead to many other very productive days this year. So what was your most memorable day metal detecting of 2017?

Still waiting for one :BangHead:

bigscoop,
Like yourself, I can't think of one memorable day MD, but each day I can assist an OP get closer to ID-ing his/her find is a memorable day; and, fortunately, I've had many such memorable days in 2017.
Don......

My most memorable metal detecting day was when I assisted in saving a boy's life from drowning and then finding the gold scorpion on the very first target following.

But my most memorable day was sending my son off to Cape May, NJ for basic training in the United States Coast Guard.
"Thank you for your service son." And thank you to all of our other veterans.

Those are both very memorable days congrats.

I can't choose between 2 hunts. I dug a kids plastic treasure chest with 5 silvers and many wheats along with a handful of other clad, the newest being 1967 and the hunt about a month ago that one find checked off 2 bucket list items. The Seated Quarter Love Token. Both were very memorable hunts from 2017.

I remember both threads loco !! I felt both were banner worthy. A cache and a love token, wow !! Still amazed at the engraving on that token.

My best day this year was taking my 11 year old son to an 1872 Catholic college, and he found a civil war Eagle infantry button and an 1887 Indian head penny. He was hooked after that! Memories I will cherish forever.20170901_205400.jpg

This has been a crazy year with some of my best finds. This year has outdone all the rest combined. Its hard to choose just one but heres a few heart stopping discoveries. First was a 71 silver coin cache containing a 8 reale found in early May.

Next was my first US gold coin. 1852 One Dollar.

Thanks Bart. Both those finds brought on my happy dance and a perma-smile that lasted for days. I enjoy the high when I pull an awesome find.

That love token is gorgeous!

Thanks can slaw, I was shocked to pull this. The permission has had to been pounded over the decades since I did not find any other keepers except a couple wheats. I am forever grateful that the token was in a real trashy area behind the house, otherwise it would have been dug by someone else in years past.

I Love your Indian, it has great detail. When the ground freezes I use a head mounted magnifier and wooded toothpicks to clean out the nooks and crannies of the years keeper coins and tokens. Yours will clean up nicely.

Thank you Loco-Digger. I'm not a picky person, I still get excited when I dig a 3 ringer or musket ball. The excitement is still there, these discoveries havnt dulled my adventures. But yes it will be hard to top.

In July, I really can pick a day. It was amazing. here is a pic of the goodies. Turns out the wife got over $2500 worth of jewelry for her b-day.DSC00458-1.jpgDSC00458-1.jpgDSC00458-1.jpgDSC00458-1.jpgDSC00458-1.jpgWow don't know how that happened but--- the top bracelet is silver. Blow up the pic and you can see inside of it a 14k ring with a big emerald and 2 diamonds, next to it is a platinum ring. To the left is a costume bracelet. Next to it is a David Yurman bracelet with 2 pearls (they are real). Inside of it are matching 14k earings. Last but not least is another silver bracelet. I did the happy dance all the way to the car. What an amazing day. Everything except the platinum ring was found in the water. HH GFP

Congratulations, thats is an awsome day to remember !! You could fill a small chest with those jewels !! Thats the kind of day I always envision when I detect !! Beautiful !!
