Hello everyone, Hangar Mom here.

I have never picked up a metal detector in my life. I have looked at them for years and today I just pulled the trigger on a Garrett Ace 150. I am super excited to get started.

I live in Cumberland Furnace, TN. A place that goes back to the late 1700's. My home site is old, but not sure how old, possibly 100 years or younger.

I have a background in aviation, where I was an avionics tech, electrician and mechanic for just shy of 25 years. I am also in school to become a photographer.

Anyway, thrilled to be here and look forward to my first find. Thank you!

Welcome to Tnet and happy hunting

Hope you can cook good... Or at least make good coffee.

Welcome to Treasure net "mom" :)

Take your time Mom. Learn what that Ace 150 is telling you, as time goes by you will want to upgrade. Please post what you find and ask questions, there is a massive amount of knowledge here for you on Treasure Net!!!! Good Luck - :occasion14:

So far I am not too thrilled. I got the one jerk up there wanting to know if I can cook. (?) What does that have to do with anything? I don't cook for jerks who think i should. Then, I get some stuck up jerk from the UK basically putting me down because my first find wasn't exciting. Is this the norm around here? To all the nice people who WERN'T jerks, thank you, and I appreciate your welcome! You guys are the only reason I am still here so far!

How many acres of un-searched 1700's land are you on?

Can I be your new BFF?

I don't cook for people who assume I should. Or would just because they exist. I have no idea why you would say crap like this, but if it's what I think it is, you're a jerk. Some welcome. Take your need to tell women they should cook to someone else who cares.

I'm glad to hear it! It's very daunting so far. LOTS of spent ammo, it's everywhere. So I gotta learn to work around it, me thinks. The area was first settled around 1790-sh. SO who knows what's out there! The house I live in is modern (1989) but it is on the site of something older, I suspect. The largest sugar maple in the county is in my front yard, and an old pig shed is across the dry creek bed that surrounds the place.
