I found this martini shaker near the base of a tree. About a foot down. When I opened it I found two envelopes, wet from the Texas storms last night. I dried them out, I read them. The curiosity just ate me up lol. It sounds like two young kids madly in love And wrote each other a love letter and buried it to read at a layer date in time. I'm heading back later today to rebury them. Thanks for looking HH

Update: 9/18/2014

Got an update on the letters I reburied last summer.

Pretty cool update and I was just thinking of this find a couple days ago.

Thanks for looking again

Personally I think this is worthy of being on the banner not only for the uniqueness of the find, but also the great story and kind replacement of the letters with a gift of a silver ring. My banner vote is in and it's well deserved by you!

Best, Erik

I second this movement.

Banner vote! The ring was a great idea and very thoughtful. The world needs more people like you a lot of people would have just put it one the trash.

Scouts out!

thats pretty cool, and good for you for doing the right thing!

Very cool!...That reminds me of when I found a Message in a bottle from 1990 in Rio Vista, and it was from a 5th grader in Cleburne. I actually contacted the School to try and return it, but they had no info on him And when i looked him up online, I saw he was in the Military and overseas. I love finding stuff like that...anythign with a story behind it excites me...Great Find!

Thanks guys! I triple wrapped in ziplock freezer bags. I left a note saying I found them on today's date, my email, best wishes and a .925 Faith ring I found the other day.

What a nice man!

banner for sure !!!

Made me smile. Great find, great story! Any story as heartwarming as this deserves banner in my opinion.

I also agree with the banner

Scouts out!

My first time to vote banner! Great story, and the smiley at the bottom of the page in the first pic looks like Cartman from South Park....

That is a very cool find, congrats and I commend you for your plans to improve the time capsule. The name of one of the authors/lovers is Vietnamese. Probably second or third generation American, and easy to research. I would put an ad on your local Craigslist with instructions for the author to go re-dig his/her time capsule... They are in for a surprise! Sub

The note and reinforcement was suggested by many forum members, but you went way above and beyond and included a ring. Unsolicited. What a cool thing to do!

That was the coolest find I have heard about in awhile.

Good job on putting them back. You did a good thing there.
