A Wallaceburg couple never knows what they’ll latch onto when “magnet fishing” but were shocked Sunday to pull up a live M36 grenade from the Thames River.
Brianna Clarke, 31, and Chuck Morgan, 42, were enjoying the beautiful weather while magnet fishing in the Thames River near the bridge on Victoria Road in Thamesville when they pulled up the grenade, with the pin still in it, around noon.
“It was a little slimy,” Clarke said.
Initially, she didn’t realize what they had caught.
“When I saw what it was, I’m like — pardon my language — ‘Holy (crap) it’s a grenade,’” Morgan said. “I definitely knew what it was right away.”
