Hi everyone, just a quick story to show you have to pay attention to details before jumping to conclusions !
I was hunting a nice site occupied since the end of the 17th century and the site had already produced some GEO II and III coppers, old shoe buckles, musket balls etc..
I was lurking around in the fields around the main site when I got a clear signal on my ATPro (ringing at 85) :

this is what I saw when I turned the dirt over :

was pretty excited at this point, but was rapidly turned down when seeing a perfectly flat metal disc on one side and with a scratch on the other side.
I tought at this point it was a modern metal disc from who knows what machinery-thing...
Put it in my pouch and continue to hunt.

The day after I organised my things and put some photos in my local md forum :

and this one with the metal disc :

luckily Iron Patch and some other more experienced members of the forum spot the metal disc and persuaded me to have a closer look on it !

after a cloer look, it does looked like a weird form for a scratch....

and BAM ! there was it, my first old silver coin and my oldest coin found !! A William III 1695-1701 Schilling !

So a big thank you for Iron Patch and the others who helped me make this hunt my best one to date.
I might never have id it without you !

Oh man is that worn!
Nice find!
But, that baby is worn smooth. Nothing on the reverse?
It sure does hold a resemblance. Good thing there are some eyes here that could recognize it.
If your TID rings silver...don't rule the metal out. Lesson learned as it is definitely not iron.
Quarter in size (As your TID indicates a quarter at 85)?
At first I thought it was another Blacksmith-type token.
Never saw one here posted. Congrats!

It is sure as toasted as it can be, but it is still possible to get an ID so I am happy !

size is 25mm and weight 4.9 g

here is another toasted one for comparison :

I don't seems to be able to imagine anything on the reverse side...
