Here are the latest "treasures" (🙄) from my 1850 farmhouse permission.

  1. Barn Door Roller (Doesn't match any of the current barn hardware, and from the corrosion, probably much earlier.)F
  2. Fruit Jar Lid (Found near suspected privy site.) w/ ceramic insert. Not much left of the metal parts, but the ceramic is fine. F
  3. 2½" x 3" Sheet Metal (Lead?) NF
Is there a field test for lead?
  4. 1½" Ø Steel Escutcheon F
  5. Embossed Sheet Metal (Pretty design, but badly deteriorated.) NF
  6. Steel Swing F

Being my first and (so far) only permission, I've been completely open with the owners about every find. These folks are our best friends; I have no interest in holding back or keeping anything.

After my last session there, I was on my way to their trash barrels to toss the rusty old swing. Wouldn't you know, she stopped me, and said she wanted this item. 🤦🏼‍♂️ :icon_scratch: :dontknow: No interest in any coins, but gotta have that pile-o-rust. Go figure.

Probably going to fix it up. Could have been her grandparents maybe?
No. Current owners have no connection prior to purchase. She is a crafter, and mentioned something about making it into some kind of sign.
:dontknow:
