Metal Detecting
I had two really good sites lined up to detect today and they both ended up being duds. One of them just didn't have anything good to find and the other one was a EMI and dog barking nightmare. I finally gave up and headed out to find another site.

The newly found site only produced a Rosie Dime, but while I was there I got permission to do the yard next door where I managed to find Washington quarter. Being pretty wore out doing so much swinging on non-productive sites, I decided to head for home.

On my way home I spotted a grassy area between a curb and sidewalk that I thought looked good. I only managed to get one good target, a 1936 Washington quarter. It gave a funky audio response and ID numbers, but still good enough to dig. It had some rusty iron laying next to it.

I ended the day up with 3 silver coins, 6 wheat pennies and around $5 dollars in clad coins.

Wow...talk about the long way around...but dang it sure paid off with the Silvers...Congrats!!

Nice silver recoveries! :occasion14:

Never give up,never surrender! A truly dedicated hunter will do just what you did,and those are the guys who bring home the goods. You get double PROPS for taking it on the chin for the first two places and not giving up. Nice work!

I like your tenacity, Tabman....
You always entertain a reader. Nice setup, thanks for showing it. I look for tips hunting in public places. Is the mat for dirt replacement purposes? Also, the tool to the left is that a second plug digger? Hand shovel for deep bigger targets, and the narrow one for smaller shallow targets?

Nice going on the silvers, the sidewalk strips can be rewarding.

Sounds like a lot of work, but some really nice finds make it all worth it- Congrats!

Thanks! The mat is for my knees and I only use the 2 inch wide long handled digger to recover targets.

Looks like a successful day Tab! Grats' on the silver:thumbsup:
