This unsearched field is massive & opposite the 'Massive Roman/Saxon Site' but its always been low on the list. However, as nearly 3 quarters of it has been left ploughed over the Winter it was worth a go. Sadly the only quarter planted is potentially the best area & out of bounds.
With all the recent rain, we were glad to start the nearly 5 hour hunt on frozen ground, sadly after lunch that all changed to some of the worst conditions we have had to swim in.
We had some early good signs with a couple of Roman Nails, & some possible Roman Pot Shards, but this never developed into anything. So we are close to something thats either under the crop or under the farm buildings!
We spent the last hour & half on the Massive Roman/Saxon Site & just as the sun was fading I got an OK Roman Coin.

The broken Spectacle would have been my largest ever, a real biggie.
Dad got a small section of a Silver Buckle:sadsmiley:
Tudor Book Clasp
Knights of the Holy Sepulchre Cross
Cloth Seal
Strange shaped Buckle, unequal sides, very odd
Fossil
Bits...

awesome stuff, the cross is really cool

Hope it's in the field, not under the farm! We have a site with good finds on the outskirts and the main area is exactly the farm. That hurts....The farmer is very nice, but not nice enough to let me detect his yard.... Like the ammonite!

Yeah, this farm has a large area of light industry & I'm 50/50 that it might be under it. We will find out, if we get time to build in this low priority field next year.

Roman coin added to first post.

Looks like a Magnentius, AE follis, Amiens.? quite a good one to get and with some nice detail.

Sadly that hunt was our last of the year as Dad got a bug, so its what we finished on!

It is a Centenionalis of Magnetius & as you say a scarce one to find & now add to the Album.

Well at least you have been getting out, I think the last time I was out ...was October, just can't seem to find the time lately.:BangHead:

Wow, hopfully 2015 you will be able to get some more time.

Nice cross any idea on the age of it?

Fantastic finds. I love the cross, too.

There is a bit of a hot debate on these;

This is where they were referrenced:
Mitchiner, M. Medieval Pilgrim & Secular Badges, London, 1986 items 939-41

14th C or Victorian?

Because they seem to be a very thin pressed copper piece many believe the referrence to be incorrect & that they were produced for boxes etc in the Victorian Gothic Revial.

Here is one on sale, although its the first I've seen with an attachement like that:
Medieval Knights of the Holy Sepulchre Cross and Pilgrim Badge Group - Lot No. 099
