Yesterday's hunt turned up a Barber and a Butterfly

Most of the snow is gone up here but we're waiting on another small storm tonight. Yesterday afternoon I went hunting with a friend of mine and it turned out to be worth it. I was able to find a 1907 IH penny, 2 wheats- 1916 and 1913 no mintmarks, a 1913 Barber dime (no mintmark).

About 6 inches down I dug a realy faint chirp. I was trying to dig decent mid and high tones just to practice and this one was barely there- It's a little tiny enameled(?) butterfly pin over possibly brass with a "C" clasp. You can still see the reds and greens of the flowers on the tips of the wings. I have found a few pins at this spot and they all had that "C" clasp but Im not sure of the era.

I picked up the signal with an AT Pro using the smaller 5x8 Double D coil.

Cool Butterfly Pin Bev  I would think it dates about 1920's, I have a Firefly Pin which dates to the same period

Thanks guys- A firefly sounds really pretty! Heavymetalnut says he has a similar butterfly in sterling but I havent seen a pic yet!

Congrats on the barber and the butterfly Bev - nice finds

I get Barbers every once in a while but I double checked all of them and my Mercs and alas, no mintmarks!

Sounds like a great mid-winter "fix". So, how long do you think this one will last? ;)

Lovely finds! Good job!

HH!

Snow mix tonight through the afternoon. Then it's cold. I dont do cold that well so I hope it's short-lived!

Quite the contrary. It would seem you would want the "fix" to last a LONG time! LOL

Hang in there, Spring's a comin'. :)

Great finds Bev!!! I love that dime, really cool.
Weather has been warm and now more snow in the forecast. I really do not like snow anymore. :unhappysmiley:
I'm glad you got out.

Very nice finds.

Great finds! I went hunting a few days ago, and within 10 minutes my fingers were frozen to the core (with two pairs o gloves). Next week I should be about 50 so I'm going out to sure! I hope I find something good like you have here. I've only used my MXTpro maybe a dozen times because I just got it. When you heard the chirp was it breaking through a deeper tone, or was it alone?

I also found a butterfly pin back a while ago. Actually, a pair of them. Cleaned up well too.

Cool finds Bev, I really like those Barber coins, and it's a neat Flutterbye............HH

Thanks guys! Man, Whatifind, your cloisonné butterflies kick mine to the curb! A pair? What's the story behind that?

Bev, great finds - especially the butterfly!

Awesome finds Bev!
